Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim hopes to find an amicable solution before the next general election.
KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Rakyat is still negotiating with the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) to fight the Barisan Nasional (BN) on a “one-to-one” basis in the coming 13th general election, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim said.
He said this at a news conference after meeting with PKR Sabah leaders at a leading resort hotel here, before returning to Kuala Lumpur, today.
He was referring to his previous statement that both Pakatan and SAPP should sit down and talk on how best to cooperate with each other to prevent a split in the opposition vote in the coming general election.
“SAPP of course has its strength here. There have been discussions and we are continuing our talks with them, although we are also guided by the spirit of Pakatan and we have to report to PKR, PAS and DAP.
“We hope we can have an amicable resolution to this,” said Anwar.
He disclosed that PKR’s deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali had a discussion with SAPP president Yong Teck Lee, during the former’s visit to Sabah about a week ago.
Asked if there is a deadline for an agreement on a one-on-one fight against the BN, Anwar said that he agreed that all have to be fully geared up for the general election and that all negotiations must be fast-tracked both in terms of seat allocations for Pakatan, as well as negotiations with SAPP.
“Both Azmin and Yong Teck Lee (SAPP president) who are involved in negotiations, are quite conversant with that (matter),” he said, adding that “we need to be humble enough to acknowledge the fact that we need to discuss and negotiate with people who have the same ideas and aspirations for the people of Sabah, based on these core principles”.
Anwar also said that there cannot be any compromise on good governance, the fight against corruption and the commitment to champion the causes of the people, particularly the poor and underprivileged.
He also said that it is imporant that all worked together. “We have to work together; we have worked in Selangor and Penang… the important principle is it (a government) must be transparent, accountable, and clean,” he said.
Also present were the various Sabah PKR leaders, including its liaison chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini, deputy chief Jonathan Yassin, secretary Dr Roland Chia, and Ansari Abdullah, its Tuaran division chief.

Ok! I love this news! It doesn't matter. The most important thing is, tumbangkan BN/UMNO di Sabah.
ReplyDeleteSAPP,PR, this is a wise move and strategy since, Sabah is Full of PTI made citizen.
Good Luck Dear SAPP and PR.
Tapi mesti ada janji. Jangan PR berlagak macam BN/UMNO jika ditakdirkan menang.
Indeed this is a good news.
ReplyDeleteGo to hell BN/UMNO=PTI
Wow! Inilah berita yang sudah lama kita tungu!
ReplyDeleteSAPP memang bijak dan baik!
Demi untuk tumbangkan BN/UMNO.
Yeah! Bravo, Hidup SAPP/PR!
Mampus BN/UMNO/PTI!
Hidup2! Hidup SAPP
ReplyDeleteNaragas2! Naragas BN/UMNO.
Lega, akhirnya SAPP membuat keputusan bijak.
Sekarang SAPP tidak keseorangan. Mampuslah BN/UMNO gila kuasa, penderhaka negeri SAbah.
ReplyDeleteGood on you, guys. The sun is shining again. It is even better if it is PR and SAPP.
ReplyDeleteA close look at it if SAPP with full support from opposition PR to take on Sabah in return pro PR to PutraJaya well truly a WIN-WIN strategy by YTL!
ReplyDeleteWith a pledge from PR+SAPP after PRU13 SAPP just return like before but now could rule Sabah as government moreover fulfill sabahan's all request from land to revenue etc etc.
Also surely some from SAPP will be appointed to National or rather Federal level to participate in Nation's administration at PutraJaya right?
What else so much goodies as this to return SAPP to status like its earlier partnership in BN?
Hahaha...real smart politician like YTL with his LAUT BIRU formula kan?
Even if PR fail to abide with the promise still SAPP will be a heroic opposition local state party!!!
BN supporters are not belongs to Sabah. Or you can migrate to Semenanjung Malaysia.
Lari kau, anjing BN/UMNO.
Begini lah tabiat pembangkang.Kita sokong BN dia marah.Mereka mahu kita ikut cakap mereka.kalau mereka sesat jalan kita pun ikut sesat juga.Kalau mereka terjun laut mereka pun mahu kita ikut sama.
The only way that PR going to take Putrajaya is to let full autonomy to SAPP to unseat BN-Umno in Sabah. SAPP is a respectable party and a party that abides by what it says.
ReplyDeleteI doubt they will ever unite, both of these parties are on different grounds and have different objectives.
ReplyDeleteSAPP will never regain Sabahan trust.
ReplyDeleteLet us see how far PKR and SAPP can cooperate with each other.
ReplyDeletesampai bila mahu capai kata sepakat ni?PRU makin hampir.
ReplyDeletesome day soon DAP will resolve this matter with SAPP for the larger interest i.e for Sabah and for PR to get to Putrajaya and form the new government. PR can have Federal government and some state government in peninsular and SAPP and friends can form the Sabah state government. This is going to be A New Era for the country.!
ReplyDeleteToday, Harris Ibrahim of MCLM was disallowed entry to Sabah and sent back to KL.! Why? Is he a dangerous person? Is he posing danger to Sabah? Is he an illegal immigrant? No, the reason is b'cos he is opposing the BN!!! That is why.
