SAPP: RCI is important and truth must be exposed

The call for the setting up of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) was made to the Federal authorities to clear doubts in the minds of Sabahans as to the unusual population increase in the number of Malaysians in Sabah, said Encik Japiril Suhaimin, SAPP Vice President, in reply to Datu Akjan’s statement, headlined “Objection to RCI” as reported in the Daily Express yesterday dated 18th December 2011.

When SAPP voiced out concern and requested the Federal authorities to set up the RCI, it was to fully investigate the problem in toto. There was no discrimination of sorts. The truth needs to be exposed. If there was a so called Identity Card (IC) syndicate, then those involved must be brought to trial and punished.

Akjan’s claim that “the people whose citizenship were being questioned were IMM13 holders”, does not hold water as this was already explained by Datuk Nazri Abdul Aziz, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, who had confirmed that none of the 81,000 IMM13 holders had been issued with Malaysian citizenship. This was stated in his answer to Datuk Eric Majimbun’s Parliament supplementary question back in 5th October 2011.

The SAPP Youth Wing had also worked hard to get the 100,000 signatures, a campaign to support the setting up of the RCI and will do more, if necessary, until the Federal authorities acquiesce to the demands of the rakyat.

What we want to know is what the Sabah UMNO leaders feel about this stand by Pekida Sabah? Why has there been a continued silence from these leaders on this issue? Or do they agree with Akjan? Is it mere coincidence that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, was the guest of honour for the Pekida national function at Shah Alam Polytechnic on the 5th December 2011? The statement “Najib to aid Pekida in return for election report” later on became the headline for certain portal news.

If these Sabah UMNO leaders are muted due to Party protocol, then can the same be assumed of the other Barisan Nasional leaders in Sabah? What are Tan Sri Pairin’s feelings on this, as he is after all the head of Sabah’s committee on the PTI issue?

What was the outcome of police investigation of the February 2011 Sultan of Sulu coronation in Likas episode? Has the police deliberated and fully investigated the matter? One would have thought that a fully detailed explanation must be given in response to the Police reports made by the various quarters including our SAPP Youth.
