VK Liew sidekicks UMNO, punches BN leaders

KOTA KINABALU, Mar 24, 2012: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Datuk VK Liew was sidekicking UMNO, PBS and other BN leaders by saying PBS' downfall and BN raise to power in 1994 was due to frogging, said Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Information Chief Chong Pit Fah.

He said Liew look down at the current leaders of UMNO, PBS and Sabah BN, but using SAPP and its President Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee, as a diversionary tactic. "This is called "pointing at the mulberry tree but scolding the locust tree", one of the "Chinese 36 strategies" being used by Liew because he is scared of being accused of sabotaging BN," he said..

He said all the people whom Liew accused of causing PBS downfall are now top leaders in BN.

He added the people who dumped PBS after the state elections of 1994 are Datuk Lajim Ukin, Datuk Rubin Balang and followed by Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup and many others.

He said SAPP was formed before the 1994 state elections.

"It appears that LDP want to take over all the seats held by SAPP, but the same seats are claimed by PBS whom LDP had brought back into the BN fold in 2001. Now Liew finds that LDP is evicted by PBS like "The guest takes over as host", another of the 36 strategies, but used by PBS against LDP. So, LDP has been outwitted by PBS. LDP has lost its posts, privileges and sweets against the PBS ungratefuls who have forgotten its friend LDP," Pit Fah said.

He was replying to Liew's statement that SAPP's Yong was "slapping his own face" by claiming that the present Sabah woes were caused by UMNO Sabah.

Liew also said that Yong had played a role when UMNO spread its wings to Sabah in 1990s and that SAPP became a BN component party after it was formed in 1994.

"This eventually led to the downfall of PBS government when there were crossovers by certain politicians," Liew added.

Pit Fah said Liew was mistaken on Sabah history.

According to Pit Fah, UMNO did not enter Sabah in 1994, the year that SAPP was formed. In fact, UMNO enterred Sabah in 1990, after PBS left the BN to form the Gagasan Rakyat together with the DAP and Semangat 46 under Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

He said the 1990 parliamentary general elections was won by BN and soon after that DAP left Gagasan Rakyat in the cold.

"As for SAPP's role in the State government from 1996 to 1998, SAPP is proud that the State Government under SAPP leadership was able to solve 48,000 cases of land applications, mostly Native cases, and tens of thousands of NTs were handed over by the then Chief Minister and other ministers to natives all over Sabah, including in Kota Belud, Kinabatangan. There was not robbing of NCR lands, no land grabs and no denial of NCR before 1930 like what is happening now," he said adding "What is LDP, as the oldest BN component party in Sabah, doing about all these abuses? Several pieces of lands were approved to Chinese schools in Sandakan, KK, Tawau and Lahad Datu. Cultural heritage sites like the Likas Lagoon, The Atkinson Clock Tower, The Merdeka Town Padang, the KK Community Centre were preserved and protected. If not, all these historical sites could have been lost to greedy leaders. Look at the loss of the Kepayan Railway station land, the bus terminal land, the library site, the threats to Likas Wetlands (Bird Sanctuary) and other losses.

Pit Fah said during the time of SAPP leading the Sabah State government, with the then LDP President, Chong Kah Kiat in the federal cabinet, and under the National Security Council, the government embarked on the foreign workers Regularisation Program where legitimate foreign workers were given work passes and tens of thousands of illegals were deported.

"But now, even with LDP, PBS, UPKO making noises, the illegal immigrants crisis has gone out of control. Everyday, people talk about thousands and thousands of illegals being issued Mykads, so that they can vote for BN, including LDP, in the coming general elections. What is Liew doing about these abuses? Pit Fah asked.

He said Liew should not try to cover up his failures as a BN component leader and deputy federal minister.

"Why is Liew complaining about UMNO? Does he not know that UMNO is his boss in Putrajaya? Pit Fah further asked.

He said the people know that Liew is frustrated MP, he has been frustrated in not being made a full minister whereas losers like Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and others were made backdoor-Ministers after being appointed Senators.

  1. the struggle in BN is a party struggle and not an individual one, especially in ensuring the coalition wins all State and parliamentary seats, including wresting all seats that were lost to opposition candidates

  14. SAPP solve 48000 land application?? but in only two year YTL approved some 265 logging licences covering over 300,000 ha (an area 5 times larger than the island of Singapore). these licences were given to cronies, associates, non-Sabahans included, and is clearly an act of gross irresponsibility at the expense of environmental conservation, sustainability and public interest..
