SAPP pledges special ICs for Sabahans
KOTA KINABALU - A new identity card system will be implemented for Sabahans should the Sabah Progressive Party come into power in the next general election, the party has pledged.
The system will differentiate the legitimate citizens of Sabah from the illegal immigrants who hold Putrajaya-issued identity cards, SAPP president Yong Teck Lee said.
The proposed "Sabah Identity Card" system will also be used for all official purposes.
"The authority (of the state government) to issue identity cards has been proven. In the past, identity cards indicate the place of issuance - which is Kota Kinabalu," Yong said at a ceramah in Kepayan on Friday.
Yong, a former chief minister of Sabah, added that SAPP's promise was in line with the 20-point Malaysia Agreement of 1963.
It is understood that the new Sabah IC proposal is one of SAPP's responses to Pakatan Rakyat's promise to restore Sabah's autonomy.
SAPP is not an official Pakatan component but it has an unofficial working relationship with the coalition from the peninsula.
Among the other speakers at the ceramah were former state finance minister Mohd Noor Mansur, SAPP deputy president Amde Sidik, Likas assemblyperson Liew Teck Chan and Sepanggar MP Eric Majimbun.

DeleteDon't you think YTL should be responsible as well? The downfall of SAS.
DeleteLets go ahead with RCI to investigate the root causes.
DeleteAutonomy,Autonomy,Autonomy;
ReplyDeleteIni Kali,Ini Kali,Ini Kali;
ABU!
DeletePasti muncul lagi masalah lain kalau cadangan SAPP ni jadi kenyataan.
Deletejgn nk pecahkan rakyat Malaysia.
Delete"A new identity card system will be implemented for Sabahans should the Sabah Progressive Party come into power in the next general election, the party has pledged."
ReplyDeleteSeems this idea won't be fulfilled as SAPP will not become into power, no matter how they persuade the people.
DeleteI dont think they will come into power. The winning chances are super slim.
DeleteShafie Apdal has dismissed the proposal by SAPP for a separate identity card for Sabahans, saying that there is no need for such a document.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we need another IC? The existing IC is sufficient enough. Making another special IC for Sabah just to show that you're Sabahan will going to waste the tax payer money some more, plus deepening the gab between Borneo & Peninsular even more..
ReplyDeletebarangkali SAPP ni mahu pecahkan perpaduan di kalangan rakyat malaysia...
DeleteIn the end, the special IC could still be duplicated supposing there is such thing as special ic.
DeleteWasting money is another story. The important thing is we don't even know whether he/she is a genuine Sabahans and we have to waste so much time in finding their parents and so forth.
DeleteWouldn't that make it more complicate to have another kind of IC??
ReplyDeletememang keadaan jadi rumit jika ada ic lain-lain.
DeletePeople shouldn't easily fall for SAPP promises.
ReplyDeleteWith the election just around the corner, every parties will be making all sort of promises.
DeletePeople are to be advised to evaluate each party wisely. What is being promised by a particular party does not mean it will be fulfilled.
DeleteThe government must have a good plan to solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteThe Sabahans really hope that the problem can be solve.
ReplyDeletebiarlah kita tengok suara ramai nanti
ReplyDeleteDo not prejudice, the idea by SAPP should study thoroughly see if possible to implement.
