LAHAD DATU: Two children were among four people, believed to be accomplices of Sulu gunmen, who were killed during a gunfight in Tanjung Batu here.
A boy and a soldier were reportedly injured in the 9.30am gunfight on Sunday.
Armed Forces Chief Tan Sri Zulkifeli Zin told a press conference that the injured boy was with the four who were killed inside a house when security forces and the gunmen exchanged fire for several minutes. Earlier, security forces had chased a suspect into a house where packets of food and water were found after the shooting.
Zulkifeli said the injured soldier, who was shot at left side of his body, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
He said they have yet to interrogate the injured boy. The boy's identity, whether he could understand Malay or is a foreigner, had yet to be determined.
At the joint press conference, Deputy Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the nationality of the four killed could not be ascertained as they carried no document.
