PR reneges on their words on cooperation with local opposition

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) says that it regrets Pakatan Rakyat's de facto leader Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement that PR will face Barisan Nasional (BN) alone in the coming 13th General Elections and they do not require the support of local-based parties in Sabah.

SAPP Secretary General Datuk Richard Yong said that SAPP will stick to its plan to topple the BN government and end this corrupted regime and most importantly to fulfill its pledge to regain Sabah's autonomy.

He says, since Pakatan Rakyat has reneged on their words to work together with the local opposition, SAPP will continue its fight in the coming elections even as the underdog in order to pursue and stick to our struggle for Sabah's autonomy.

"Since PR has announced its decision not to work together with the local opposition, it shows that their leaders have already made up their minds to accept the consequences, no matter win or lose."

SAPP will be facing split votes of the opposition parties here in Sabah and predict this would be the toughest battle while also facing the threat of two political giants at a same time.

SAPP previously announced that it can even contest under PR-PKR ticket if PR can ensure Sabah's autonomy and people rights protected under PR Federal government.

Richard questioned why PR still wants to gain full control of the Sabah state government as what BN has done.

He also calls on the Sabah people to unite together and to fully support SAPP in the coming election so that we can reinstate Sabah autonomy together, implement Sabah IC and other policies in the SAPP Manifesto to enable a clean, fair, people oriented and transparent state government which will give our Sabah people fair share of the state's economic pie.

  1. PKR OBJECTIVES ARE CLEAR- TO DOMINATE SABAH OPPOSITION AS IT CONTROLS GUTLESS SARAWAKIAN OPPOSITION.

An agenda on PKR's manifesto was the "integration" of Sabah and Sarawak with Malaya.

This offensive non-starter item has apparently been dropped as it is not mentioned in its latest "People's Manifesto".

It was absurd to talk about "integration" when Sabah and Sarawak have been made vassal states of Malaya since 1963 with Malayanisation aka colonisation.

However, it can be seen here that PKR still wants to barge into Sabah by standing candidates for election there instead of given local parties an even chance.

The spirit of the 20 Points Agreement was to keep Sabah for Sabahans.

If local parties win the majority of Sabah seats, they can always co-operate with PKR (if it wins the election) to work on areas of common interest as EQUAL PARTNERS.

That means Sabah opposition takes back the initiative and autonomy by implementing the 20 Points Agreement with Malaya.

Autonomy is not real self-determination. But is will be a breathing space to get Malaya off Sabah's back.

START DEALING WITH MALAYA UNDER THE 20 POINTS AGREEMENT AS AN EQUAL PARTNER. May be it will encourage them to expel Sabah from Malaysia AS UMNO did with Singapore! That would be an easy way out....

Sabah is in a better position to assert its independence rights than Sarawak where Malayan opposition parties run the show.

The future of Sabah hangs in the balance in the coming elections.

The outcome depends on how hard the opposition parties have been working with the grass roots.
