KUALA LUMPUR: PAS remains committed to its agenda of establishing an Islamic state and implementation of hudud law despite DAP rejecting it, said PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali.
"No Muslim can reject it. No Muslim dare reject hudud.
"It (establishment of an Islamic state and implementation of Islamic jurisprudence) remains PAS policy and we will continue the party's struggle with regard to it," he said, adding that it was an "eternal" struggle that would not be abandoned by the party.
He said other parties in Pakatan Rakyat were allowed to pursue their own agenda if it did not form part of the Opposition pact's common policy framework.
"DAP has the right to reject hudud as we have agreed to disagree on the issue," he said.
Meanwhile, Mustafa said that PAS was dropping out of the six-cornered fight in Kota Damansara parliamentary seat, which is being defended by PSM president Mohd Nasir Hashim contesting under the PKR banner.
The Kota Damansara parliamentary seat was won by Nasir in a straight fight against BN candidate Zein Isma Ismail in the 2008 general election.
However, the seat will see a six-cornered fight between Mohd Nasir, PAS' Ridzuan Ismai, Barisan's Halimaton Saadiah Bohan as well as independent candidates Edroos Abdullah, A. Suppiah and Halmi Omar.
Candidacy for the seat became an issue within Pakatan prior to nomination on April 20 following PKR's insistence that Mohd Nasir defend the seat.
The bickering over the seat escalated when PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was quoted as saying that the party was going against PKR in seven seats to "save" the pact.
He claimed his party believed some PKR candidates had moral issues and also "subscribed to Marxism".
On April 22, Nasir demanded Hadi clarify his statement as it was directed towards PSM, labelling them communist advocates.
