GE13: SAPP Eric - RM80 million allegation a complete lie

MENGGATAL -  Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) candidate for Inanam, Datuk Eric Majimbun, vehemently denied allegations that the party had received RM80 million from someone in the Barisan Nasional.

“This is act of desperation and is done deliberately to put us (SAPP) in a bad light.

“The allegations are serious and we are angry at such unfounded allegations. We are serious, this is something that we cannot take lightly.

“We take the matter seriously and if you think that is true, I urge you to lodge a police report on such accusations to clear our name,” he said when speaking to a gathering of about 200 people during a meet-the-people session here on Sunday.

He lamented that there were people willing to go to that extent in their desperate attempt to “kill” SAPP in this 13th general election.

“These irresponsible people came up with such accusations because they are very envious of us. They are envious because the people are with us in our fight for the rights of Sabahans – autonomy for Sabah, SABAH ICs, rights to land, Borneonisation, among others,” he said.

DAP candidate for Luyang, Hiew King Cheu, made the claim last week, saying that SAPP was collaborating with the BN.

Eric rubbished the accusations which were created to tarnish the good name and credibility of SAPP.

Eric recalled that the SAPP passed a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in 2008 when he failed to act on the alarming increase in the population of Sabah.

“We left the BN coalition because we were fed up of it because we were ignored for bringing up the illegal immigrant issue, hoping for solution to it,” he said.

SAPP parliamentary candidate for Sepanggar, Don Chin and candidate for Karambunai state seat, Aziz Ibrahim, also spoke at the meet-the-people session.

Don and Aziz said they were banking on the support and the votes of the people to get the power needed to fight for the rights of Sabahans through autonomy for Sabah.

Eric is involved in a three-cornered fight with Joseph Paulus Lantip of BN and Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen of PKR.

Don faces Datuk Jumat of BN, Daniel John Jambun of STAR and Jeffrey Kumin @ John of Pakatan Rakyat while Aziz is involved in a five-way tussel with Datuk Jainab Binti Ahmad of BN, Muali Aching of PKR, and independent candidates Ag Maidin Ag Apong and Rano Bin Susulan.
