Yong has issued a challenge to those accusing him of having alienated open spaces and seafront land, including at Tg Aru, to come up with solid proof before making such allegations.
"Tell us when it was approved, who was the Chief Minister because as far as I know, and it is a fact, it was not me. Those who keep saying it was me, these people are lying," he said.
Yong who was a Chief Minister from May 1996 to 1998, said the facts of the Tanjung Aru development were already being reviewed in open court during his tenure.
"The approval and agreement were signed even before I became Chief Minister.
"During my time, we cancelled one approval which involved the reclamation of Tanjung Aru beach awarded to Hong Leong, a public-listed company from West Malaysia.
"It was approved earlier and we cancelled it.
That is as far as I know. The agreement was signed, sealed and delivered before Yong Teck Lee became Chief Minister, that's a fact, unless you say I can do magic lah," he said.
