PAS exco members will not resign

GOMBAK - The four executive councillors from PAS will not tender their resignations following the sacking of Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from PKR "as it would be unfair to the people," said Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Ab Samad.

“We will not resign, otherwise the Selangor people will suffer. We need to carry on with our duties. It will not be fair to the people,” he told reporters at PAS' Hari Raya Open House here on Sunday.

On Saturday, Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua said the party's exco members might resign following Khalid’s expulsion from PKR for his refusal to resign as mentri besar.

Iskandar, who is Chempaka assemblyman, said PAS decided not to follow DAP based on directives from party secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali.

"Selangor PAS will heed the party because we have no problem working with Khalid until now,” he said.

Asked if he was still supportive of Khalid's administration, Iskandar said he would hold firmly to the decision of the Syura Council last week, that Khalid continue as Mentri Besar as there was no reason to remove him.

On the possibility of Khalid joining PAS, Iskandar said: "I don’t think it will happen. The possibility is very unlikely."

However, he said, the party was prepared should snap polls be called as a way to resolve the crisis.

“But I don’t think there is a need for snap polls. I don’t think we will reach that stage,” said Iskandar.

PAS central committee member Khalid Samad, who is Shah Alam MP, hoped Khalid would appeal the PKR central leadership decision to sack him and remain PKR.

“Khalid has contributed a lot to Pakatan Rakyat. I hope he remains in PKR as he still has time to appeal,” he said.
