KENINGAU - The mystery of a Selangor college student who was found dead on Monday inside the female toilet of the District Office building, here, deepened, Tuesday, when it was revealed that her body had two stab wounds in the chest.
However, no weapon was also found. District Police Chief DSP Douglas Nyeging Taong said the post mortem result showed two punctures of stabbing in the middle of her chest.
"The five-centimetre width stabs was followed with a small tear on her blouse and she was found fully clad with her clothing.
"There was no sign of struggle at the scene and no weapon was also found," he told a press conference, Tuesday. She was a student of Saito College and was doing her internship at the District Office.
So far no arrest has been made and the police are still investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Douglas said they have sought assistance of the K9 Unit to look for the weapon suspected to have been used in the incident as well as tracking down the suspect.
Sairah Fitri Binti Tifanus, 20, staying at Kg Durok, Keningau, who was doing her practical at the Licensing Unit at the district office, came to the office around 8am on Monday.
Half an hour later she went to the toilet located about five metres from her office and her failure to return prompted the security guard and a janitor to open the toilet door with a spanner.
Initially they saw blood flowing from a toilet cubicle and upon opening the door by force, found Sairah lying in a pool of blood inside and contacted the police.
Douglas urged anyone who may have information on the case to come forward to the district police station here to facilitate police investigation.
Meanwhile, District Officer Yusop Osman has asked for all government buildings to be installed with closed circuit televisions (CCTVs) for public benefit and enforcement authorities following the incident.
He also advised the public to ignore rumours and baseless information pertaining to the case.
Instead, they should channel any information they may have to the police here to assist in their investigation.
