RANAU - Nine more bodies were recovered by the search and rescue team on Mount Kinabalu.
This brings the total number of deceased victims to 11 as earlier two bodies were recovered and retrieved after the state was hit by earthquakes yesterday.
In revealing this Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said effort to identify the victims will be carries out by the police.
"A forensic team has been deployed to conduct investigations and identify the victims," he said.
Eight more people remain missing; he said adding search efforts continue on the mountain.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the bodies will be air flown by helicopter to Kota Kinabalu if the weather permits.
Search operations are focussed between the Laban Rata and Sayat Sayat area on a kilometre long stretch along the summit trail this morning after all survivors were rescued and brought down from the mountain.
