MALAYA OH MALAYA! Pahang Mufti Abdul Rahman Osman's labelling of DAP as kafir harbi - enemies of Islam that can be slain - has even surprised right wing Malay rights group Perkasa, which regards DAP as its sworn enemy.
Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali said he disagreed with the label and even asked the mufti to correct his statement.
"Perkasa is of the opinion that the Pahang mufti's statement about DAP being kafir harbi is quite overboard," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
Ibrahim noted that Perkasa had always disagreed with DAP but couldn't agree with the notion that they can be killed.
"Perkasa has always disagreed with DAP's politics. This is not new and we all know about DAP.
"But as much as we may disagree with DAP, what the Pahang mufti is saying can cause misunderstanding amongst non-Muslims towards Islam," he said.
Ibrahim urged Abdul Rahman to make things right.
"It would be best for the Pahang mufti to correct this.
"He can voice disagreement or condemn DAP but he should not make such specific accusations that could confuse people's views towards Islam," he said.
Yesterday, Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia published Abdul Rahman's comment labelling DAP as kafir harbi for opposing hudud in the country.
Abdul Rahman later said he did not only refer to DAP but all who were against Islam.
His statement came just a day after the Islamic State issued a statement threatening attacks against Malaysian police and urged its supporters to kill non-believers in Malaysia.
