Police bust online prostitution ring offering Malaysian, Thai and Vietnamese college girls for RM165-300 per session.
PETALING JAYA - Police have uncovered a prostitution ring offering college girls for sex at RM165-RM300 each time at budget hotels in Malacca.
Two brothers, believed to be related to a policeman, were the pimps for the girls, according to a news report today.
Malacca police chief DCP Ramli Din said police rescued three college students aged between 19 and 21 years from a hotel in Ayer Keroh last week. The two brothers, aged 24 and 26, have been placed in remand.
A second ring was broken on Tuesday, when police detained two men aged 37 and 40 years for offering three foreign women aged between 25 and 29 for sex. They also used social media to promote their services.
Star Online reported that detectives had posed as clients via the WeChat messaging service and found that Malaysian, Thai and Vietnamese college students had been offering sexual services for some time.
The local girls charged RM250-RM300 per session while the foreigners charged RM165-RM200.
DCP Ramli said the victims were sent to a shelter home in Johor and police are now looking for other such syndicates.
Education activist Mak Chee Kin was quoted as saying many parents had complained about such syndicates involving college students. The rings had existed for some time but had been difficult to track down because they used phone apps.
