KOTA KINABALU - Former Sabah PKR Women Chief, Hajah Johair Matlani who quit PKR together with 12 Divisional Women Chiefs and 5 Divisional Women Deputy Chiefs and Vice Chiefs recently said it is timely for her to explain in a statement the truth of their departure from PKR recently.
"We have no regret in leaving because we have done our best but PKR leadership failed or refused to hear us.
"I don't wish to talk bad about my former party as we enjoyed leading the wing but I must put on record that I left together with 12 Divisional Women Chiefs and five divisional women deputy chiefs and vice chiefs.
"In fact the state women wing was crippled as joining me in quitting the party were my deputy, two vice heads, the secretary, treasurer and the information chief.
"It appeared Sabahans concerns are not the concern of the central women leadership. We felt discriminated against, not listened to, and at times we were only wanted by them when the party’s election came.
"We were strong and open-minded. We talked straight to the national leadership but what we Sabahans got was mere lip service, in fact we were ridiculed by the PKR central leadership when they wrongly recorded in the last party congress that we didnt have activities in Sabah and that we were not even organised properly when we in fact were among the best," she lamented.
"We have tasted the able and committed leadership by our former chairman YB Datuk Lajim Ukin and under him the party had progressed leap and bound as membership was doubled from only 40,000 three years ago to over 90,000 two weeks ago.
"Not only we felt we were discriminated and abused by the central women leadership, their continuous interfering is a blatant disregard to the call by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to respect Sabah and Sarawak’s political autonomy.
"I believe the Centre will continue to carry on this style and apparently the state divisional women leaders were not allowed to decide their own chief, or that only someone the centre wants will be appointed as proxy after their meeting in Kota Kinabalu.
"Sabahans are fed up with the politics of proxy and stooges of outsider as being promoted by some anti-autonomy and anti-Malaysia Agreement leaders in the party, just like in Umno.
"We thanked the president Datuk Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for listening and accomodating but that she must be vigilant of insiders in her party that are looking at Sabah and Sarawak the same way that Umno sees us, dreaming to grab us from Umno to become their own fixed deposit.
"We would want to work with local parties as well as Pakatan Harapan as long as we share the same goal: to retake our rights and DO AWAY WITH POLITICS OF PROXY AND STOOGES OF MALAYA.
"We must be allowed to chart our own destiny as long as within the ambit of the Malaysia Agreement," said Hajah Johair.
