KOTA KINABALU - Streamyx users in the country may be experiencing slowness in their Internet speed due to some glitches that are affecting the Internet system's Domain Name Server (DNS).
DNS is a server that translates websites' addresses so that the users' browser can connect to them.
Occasionally, users can lose connection to the server, through either corrupt settings or problems on the server's end.
According to a Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) official, when asked to comment about the sluggish Streamyx connection that a Kolombong subscriber is experiencing of late, the issue needs to be examined by its technicians in order to solve it.
"It's premature to comment about this at this stage because there are many reasons that can cause the slow browsing and, in fact, viruses or malwares were the culprits previously," he said.
He said it would treat the issue on a case-by-case basis which means its technicians would visit the complainants' premises for the purpose of checking the configuration of their Internet modem.
"Yes, this will be done at the complainants' house or office," he added.
He urged Streamyx subscribers who experienced slowness in browsing their Internet at home or office to report the matter to its Careline at 100.
"We will need the Streamyx account number as well as the subscriber's contact number for our reference," he added.
