Two alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf Group were captured by government troops in Tubigon, Bohol province on Thursday morning, a Balitanghali report said.
One of them was identified as "Alyas Saad," whom the military confirmed as one of the members of the bandit group that they are running after.
In a report by Super Radyo dzBB's Glen Juego on Thursday, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said the bandits were arrested after an encounter with military troops in Tubigon, Bohol.
The identity of the other arrested individual was not immediately known.
It was also not yet clear if he was one of the three remaining members of the bandit group that authorities were pursuing in the island province, following a deadly clash in Inabanga, also in Bohol, on April 11, that left nine people — five alleged ASG members, three soldiers, and a policeman — dead.
Tubigon is around 23 kilometers away from Inabanga.
On Thursday, Padilla said they were still running after three or four Abu Sayyaf members in Bohol.
Security forces in Central Visayas, meanwhile, remain on full alert following the arrest of suspected Abu Sayyaf member Renoor Lou Dongon and his alleged lover Supt. Maria Cristina Nobleza on April 22. — Erwin Colcol/MDM, GMA News
