A study conducted by Onemyr Awareness Management showed that young girls’ obsession with indiscriminately befriending people online has caused them to fall into a “virtual trap”.
IT consultant Mohd Ridzman Azzahari said 10 pornographic photos and videos are uploaded on the Internet every day.
He said most victims were unaware that their photos were uploaded on international porn sites.
“They are so obsessed with making friends and dating online that they would share inappropriate photos and videos of themselves.
“These ‘friends’ may deliberately hunt for such photos and videos to sell to porn sites or blackmail the victims,” he said.
Mohd Ridzman said adult women also fell prey to such “grooming”.
