Kidnappers demanding RM4 million ransom for fishermen, say cops

KOTA KINABALU - The abductors of two Indonesian fishermen kidnapped by armed men in the waters off Semporna on Sept 11 have demanded a ransom of RM4 million for their release, Sabah police confirmed today.

Sabah police commissioner Omar Mammah said the abductors had telephoned the wife of one of the kidnap victims at 10.24am on Sept 18.

“No time period was given for the payment of the ransom. We will wait for developments.

“There could be negotiations between the families of the victims and their employer,” he told reporters at the Sabah police headquarters in Kepayan here.
