KUALA LUMPUR - "Next time, we'll use placards to identify ourselves," quips Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador in response to suggestions by Parti Warisan Sabah that Special Branch (SB) personnel identify themselves.
Warisan vice-president Datuk Junz Won had stated earlier that SB personnel should identify themselves when attending events.
"I think I will ask for a budget from the Home Minister to prepare special placards," he joked to reporters after attending the handing over of duties ceremony of his deputy Datuk Mazlan Mansor at Bukit Aman on Wednesday (May 15).
The IGP said that organisers were free to put up restrictions, but the police would continue to do their duties as usual.
"There is no issue.
"At press conferences, things can get heated, so when the police are there, they can cool things down. So that's to their advantage.
"But the police are there to do their jobs," he said.
