BN Govt huge loan from EPF
KOTA KINABALU, June 17, 2012: Member of Parliament for Sepanggar Datuk Eric Majimbun said the Federal Government's total loan from the Employers Provident Fund (EPF) stood at RM144.5 billion as of December 31 last year.
Towards this end, he asked whether the Government would be able to repay such a huge amount of money.
This is based on the written answer from the Finance Ministry to his question in Parliament on March 12, he said, believing that this is probably the reason why EPF payment has been prolonged to the age of 60 under the Minimum Retirement Age Bill.
"People are worried and scared that they might lose their hard-earned savings just because of the ways the government of today is doing with their EPF money. The Government is supposed to have a high sense of responsibility to protect the people's money which they have entrusted to it," he said.
Worst of all, the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government has used the EPF money to bail out Malaysia Airlines (MAS) losses, he said via SMS from Kuala Lumpur.
On the first reading of the Minimum Retirement Age Bill 2012 tabled by the Human Resource Minister in Parliament, Majimbun, who is also SAPP Deputy President, said the Government seems to be doing it in such a rush without considering the implication towards both the employers and employees, particularly on retirement benefits.
"There was no mention if any amendment would be done on the EPF, particularly on the savings withdrawal matters," he said.

ReplyDeleteIf you are interested in independence for Sabah, please sign the petition. It may not seem important to some but at least it gives us an idea in terms of numbers no matter how small. It also doesn't matter which political party you support. Things will be worked out once it is known what the majority desires. This is also an opportunity for our Sarawak cousins to kick start their own petition if they too desire independence. Thank You!
The only way towards change is through voting, those who are not willing to vote does not deserves to complain.
DeleteA quarter-million Sabahans above the age of 21 have yet to register as voters, how to make a change?
Deletehttp://www.theborneopost.com/2012/06/08/big-number-not-registered-as-voters-in-sabah/
Who is going to lead Sabah later? Without good leadership, the situation will be worse.
DeleteMake a change as a voter.
DeleteTo sign or not to sign is your decision. Hopefully with enough signatures we can take the next step of action. What are you doing about it? How long are you going to wait for good leadership? Leaders are groomed and taught, they don't just pop out of the hat. Carry the weight and become a good leader in your own right. Lead and others will follow. If I were to ask you to follow me because I feel I am a good leader. Will you? Perhaps your answer will be "No", so then I will not tell you to wait till the sky falls down.
DeleteBEST RETIRE SOON BEFORE THE PUTRID JAYA MAGICIANS MAKE YOUR MONEY DISAPPEAR!
ReplyDeleteIn case you didn't known they spent 11 billion plus of Sabah Sarawak oil money on building their putrid Disneyland as their new admin centre!
They also used stolen oil money to build the Sabah and Sarawak (Petronas) Twin Towers!
If we continue in Malaysia all our oil wealth will be drained dry by Malaya to develop Malaya and enrich UMNO BN elites.
If we can become independent our oil money can be more usefully spent on improving our people’s standard of living, health care education and creating a self sufficient economy.
The only independence that Sabah can get is autonomous power, Sabah and Sarawak should be self-governed.
DeleteThe EPF interests now is all time high in 10 years.
ReplyDeleteDont worry, the state government will pay it back.

DeleteThe Federal Government said they are making steady profits from the EPF investments.
ReplyDelete"EPF's total investment assets continued to register healthy growth of 6.52 per cent to RM469.22 billion from RM440.52 billion recorded in the previous year."

This is a positive sign. Hopefully this situation is maintained.
DeleteIf the profits are healthy, why is there no mention of borrowed funds being returned to the EPF and why the sudden increase in retirement age. Suspect!
DeleteFor them to borrow money from EPF in the first place tells you that Malaysia is Bankrupt!
I won't feel threatened. After all, BN government has the best government in the whole Msia.
