RCI must immediately begin and complete job before GE – Bumburing
TAMPARULI: The Royal Commission of Inquiry on the presence of illegal immigrants in Sabah must be allowed to carry out its job before the 13th general election.
Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred M Bumburing in making the call said this would ensure that the electoral rolls would be purged of illegal voters.
Speaking at a Pakatan Rakyat-APS public seminar here recently, the Tuaran member of parliament urged the federal government to let the RCI on illegal immigrants to completely carry out their functions and finish their job before the 13th general election was called.
“This will thereafter pave the way for the electoral rolls to be rectified and cleaned up by getting rid of any illegal voters. In this respect, the RCI must immediately begin their job in order to complete their job in time.
“The Election Commission must also follow up by getting rid of any questionable voters. We fully support the call by Bersih to have a free and fair election and this means to clean up the electoral rolls from any illegal or phantom voters,” Bumburing said.
He added that APS respected and accepted any political groups given the mandate to form the next government only if the said government elected to power was elected through the due process of law by not having any dubious voters listed in the electoral rolls.
APS, he claimed, had discovered one glaring example where a woman voter whose home address was stated as being in Peninsular Malaysia but listed as a voter in the Silam constituency.
Although the Election Commission may have done their so-called cleaning up in the past, however, the outcome of the RCI will be able to assist them to enable to speed up the process, he said.
At the same time APS is ready to provide any assistance to the authorities if necessary, to identify any dubious voters that might still be listed in the electoral rolls.
“One of the core struggles of APS is to urge the federal authorities to restore the trust promised to Sabah as provided for in the Malaysia Agreement in return for Sabah’s agreeing to the formation of Malaysia.
“This also includes the guarantee that Sabah’s sovereignty will be protected which have now been clearly violated when the federal government blatantly awarded citizenships to undeserving foreigners through dubious means.
“These new “citizens” thereafter were then listed in electoral rolls as voters which enabled them to participate in the country’s electoral process, thus giving them the same rights as the locals. This clearly is a violation of our sovereign rights as Malaysian citizens which should have been protected by the BN government,” Bumburing stressed.
The function was also attended by Tuaran DAP chairman Peter Liew, PKR National Council member Datuk Kalakau Untol, APS vice-presidents Datuk Dr Richard Gunting and Datuk Herman Tiongsoh, APS secretary general Petrus Guriting and several leaders from other PR component members.

RCI will do their best to investigate illegal immigrant in Sabah.
ReplyDeleteU KIDDING BRO? UMNO INVESTIGATES ANOTHER OF ITS ABUSES & MISDEEDS?
DeleteNo, its not umno investigate the issues, its a free & non-align body that investigate the pti issues...
DeleteBROTHER DON'T WASTE TIME OVER THIS RCI BULLSHIT- THEY NEVER GOT ANYWHERE WITH MACC SUICIDES ENQUIRIES NOT TO MENTION MISSING MONGOLISAN MADAMS!
ReplyDeleteThe FIRST RCI we in Sabah and Sarawak experienced was the Cobbold Commission Enquiry on the Malaysia federation plan.
For a start the Commission was conducted by UK colonial officials and Malayans! READ the heading on page 1.
Where was the SS participation?
They were the interviewees!
So the result was not surprising. Both UK and Malaya were keen to annex Sabah Sarawak into "Malaysia".
The UK wanted to consolidate their colonial economic interest under one admin umbrella and the Malayans had territorial expansionist plans. The rest is history- albeit the UMNO version at school.
SO why are Sabahans clamouring for no more RCI when the result will be served up as a plate of warmed up bullshit?
Get into your heads the sooner you demand de-colonisation of Sabah Sarawak and independence the better.
How to rope everyone in to be on the same page? I so wish for that to happen...
DeleteHow do we want to do that?please be clear with your suggestion.
DeleteWith or without RCI, you will complain. What other alternatives do you have in mind? And are you really sure it will succeed?
DeleteOK GUYS- I WILL TRY NOT TO SHOUT. HERE IS A REPLY TO ALL YOU UNSURE OF HOW TO PROCEED.
DeleteFirst we know the RCI is not going to be an "independent" body since you can guess what sort of people will be appointed.
In M'sia nothing is unbaised or NOT bent towards UMNO's interest. There can be no independent body.
WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR decisions on dead MACC interviewees and the blown up Mongolian lady.
The Malayan court just ruled in the Lynas case that the eco damage claimed by those opposed to it is "premature". So you become more cynical. Right?
“Premature” (!) despite that they already got the Bukit Merah rare earth horror example which the Japanese are still cleaning up and paying compensation. There is also example of the Mukah aluminium pollution in Sarawak which is developing as people report health issues and changes to water and food chain issues.
If you have not forgotten or have no family affected, Sabah is still suffering from the major pollution from the Japanese operated Mt Mamut copper mine.
Have any of you concerned brothers looked into this disaster which has affected a mega area of beautiful Sabah and are those who raped our environment doing bugger all about it? No one remembers?
Maybe we had our hands in the till too and dare not say anything?
Where is there a demand for an RCI into this or the problem is buried with the poisonous waste now affecting thousands of poor peasants- healthwise and their sources of livelihood water and food chains?
The reality is that even with world class enviro-protection in place, those in power care more for their pockets than the people's health and prefer to get the profits and not interfere with the workings of foreign multinationals – period!
Sorry I'm "shouting" but just angrrryy that these crooks are always getting away with their crimes!
So you ask what alternatives?
Here is one.
Sabah under the Malaysia agreement has control over immigration, its resources, finances and taxation.
And folks- why are not the Sabah authorities in charge and rounding up the "illegals" and deporting them to Malaya?
Furthermore, why are we paying blind, taxes and oil revenue to Kuala Lumpur? This was not part of the deal!
The fact is that we have been emasculated and deprived of our immigration powers together with all the other 20 points!
We were Malayanised! We do not control our own affairs and destiny!
So if Sabah were an independent country like Singapore or Brunei (which have not been invaded by Indonesia or Philippines yet as you are all CONSTANTLY REMINDED of) and controlled its borders would there be such a huge problem??
There was N.O.N.E Prior to 1963!
If the British colonials could control the borders why can't the Malayan version (colonial master) control our borders???
UMNO has its own sinister mass transmigration programme to tighten its control of Sabah and Sarawak through building up its local electoral bases and fulfil its religious programme with illegals. Do not cover your eyes from the reality. How many Christian illegals are there huh?
We are being turned into a totalitarian racist/apartheid mono-culture religious state!
So ask yourself why bother demanding an RCI when you should be demanding at least the deportation on all illegals dating back to 1963 to MALAYA? They make the problems they bear the burden just like UK! Reverse colonisation by the colonised.
If you feel angry enough why not demand Sabah independence!
Isu kewarganegaraan songsang harus bertindak dengan cepat. Banyak diantaranya mendapat mykad melalui pintu belakang.
DeleteFor the people, PATI issue should resolve soon.
DeleteKalau setakat bising2 saja, x guna...masuk pkr betul2, jgn jadi ahli fotostat haha...
DeleteWilfred and Lajim should join the local opposition parties as they are having common agendas to risk of of colonizer from Malaya. All local opposition parties should consolidate and become one force to fight against
ReplyDeleteevil umno/bn regime. "united we stand divide we fall".
Wilfred and Lajim only want to struggle for their own political sake.
DeleteThe RCI Chairman and former Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Steve Shim Lip Kiong, who chaired the meeting told reporters that the hearing proper would start on January 14 next year and the venue would be the High Court here.
ReplyDeleteShim said: “Anyone who can give us the relevant information can come forward to testify before us.”
DeleteAsked about the specific areas that the committee is investigating, Shim said the committee would be investigating all aspects “which we feel are relevant to the terms of reference of the RCI”.
DeleteFurther investigation is also needed in matters pertaining to the standard operating procedures, methods and regulations on the issuance of the blue identity cards or citizenship to immigrants in Sabah by taking into account international standard and norms used in Malaysia.
DeleteIt is unfair for people to criticise the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah as it not yet finish the investigation.
ReplyDeleteThe government is serious in handling issues worrying Sabahans such as the increasing number of illegal migrants in the state.
DeleteThe unchecked influx of illegal immigrants in Sabah has been a longstanding problem in the BN-ruled state, and frequently blamed for the rise in social, economic and security problems suffered by the locals here.
DeleteOpposition leaders have long raged against the BN government for this population explosion, alleging that illegals have been allowed into the east Malaysian state, and given MyKads and voting rights to help the ruling coalition cling to power.
DeleteLet the RCI panel finish their work then only we can credit or discredit them.
DeleteSemoga RCI berjaya mengesan punca kemasukan PATI yang semakin bertambahan.
DeleteJan 14 as D-Day for Sabahans to hear evidence of what many claim is a massive immigration system fraud.
ReplyDeleteShim said the panel had so far identified 48 witnesses to be called for the public hearing which will be held at the Kota Kinabalu High Court.
DeleteShim disclosed that since their appointment, they had set up an investigative team to identify witnesses for the inquiry into the illegal immigrant problem.
DeleteShim also rejected criticism that the RCI panel was dragging its feet on the issue.
DeleteThe terms of reference also stipulate that the panel can investigate the legality of the issuance of citizenship to immigrants in Sabah, verify if they are indeed holding blue identity cards or temporary identification receipts or citizenship documents that had been illegally registered into the electoral rolls.
DeleteA member of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Sabah's illegal immigrants has filed a RM50mil suit against two local activists for alleged defamation.
ReplyDeleteTan Sri Herman Luping, who is a former Deputy Chief Minister and state Attorney-General, filed the suit against Sabah Bersih coordinator Andrew Ambrose Mudi and environmental activist S.M. Muthu over their statements on his appointment as a commission member.
DeleteIn his statement of claim, he said Mudi had made defamatory statements against him in the article entitled “Luping's RCI Appointment Comes Under Fire”, which was published by the website on Aug 13 this year.
DeleteHe claimed that the statements were calculated to make negative and false inferences about him, including that he was untrustworthy, unfit to be in the commission, dishonest and “a criminal”.
DeleteMudi, he further alleged, had also made the statements via Facebook on Aug 12 and on Twitter that he “could not be trusted and (was) a corrupt politician”. He said Muthu had also posted further false, malicious and abusive statements about him on Facebook.

DeleteThe attorney general has appointed investigating officers (IO) to look into any matter pertaining to the terms of reference of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Sabah's illegal immigrant problem.
ReplyDeleteRCI secretary Datuk Saripuddin Kasim, who is also the secretary-general of the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, announced this in a press statement
DeleteMerdeka Centre poll released on Tuesday showed that 53% of 829 Sabah respondents felt that the illegal immigrant issue is one closest to their hearts.
DeleteThe survey found that an overwhelming 87% of respondents agreed with the establishment of the RCI, but only 54% expressed confidence that the commission will be able to address the problem.
DeleteThe RCI was set up after years of request by Sabah Barisan Nasional and opposition leaders, to curb the influx of illegal immigrants to the state.
DeleteChief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said Sabahans were appreciative of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's attentiveness over the broad terms of reference for the RCI.
ReplyDeleteRCI also proved that the Barisan Government under the leadership of Najib listened to the calls and needs of people in the state and responded to them accordingly.
ReplyDeleteUpko president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok said the Prime Minister had the guts to tackle the issue and the RCI was an important step towards resolving the problem.

DeleteParti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan touched on 20 issues in his policy speech at the party’s annual delegates congress here yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThe Deputy Chief Minister spoke at length about the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the presence of illegal immigrants in Sabah, its responsibilities, the panel appointed and the Terms of Reference (ToR) that had been agreed on.
Delete
DeleteHe wants PBS to work hard to ensure that BN is victorious and warned its members of expulsion from the party if they are found to have sabotaged the Coalition.
Pairin also advised the public not to be easily swayed by opposition’s allegations against Barisan Nasional (BN) but instead evaluate what the ruling government had done for them with an open heart.
Delete“We understand that the BN government is not perfect but no one can deny that BN has maintained the religious and racial harmony, provide peace and stability to the country since Independence.
Delete“Compared to BN, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is only capable of acting because in reality, they are not capable to bring peace, stability, harmony and prosperity to Malaysia,” he said and was of the opinion that opposition parties had come together based on politics of convenience as they hate BN, and their leaders have dreams to be the prime minister of Malaysia.
DeletePairin said the only thing binding them together was their political ideologies, and while they might agree on the name ‘Pakatan’, they differ in all other areas such as registering the coalition, what symbol and flag to use; they have no shadow cabinet and no future prime minister or chief minister.
DeleteHe added that the public must also be wary of a local opposition party that only cropped up during election time.
DeleteHe disclosed that this party had borrowed the name of a party from Sarawak and claimed that it was using sensitive racial issues to garner support from the people.
DeleteOn the power sharing issue among BN component parties, Pairin expressed hope that the matter could be discussed in a workshop so that a solution could be found for all issues raised by Coalition members in the past.
Delete“I urge that the issue be given full attention and discussed openly so that it reflects the BN consensus and the 1Malaysia concept. We can reach a consensus if we can sit together with mutual respect and determine our future in the context of BN’s agenda.
Delete“They are questioning if PBS is still relevant for Sabah, and although the party is disappointed with the talks, there is no way to avoid the accusations,” he lamented.
Delete“I would like to stress today that what PBS is fighting for since the day it was formed is still relevant. I see that there are some Sabahans who are still set in their old ways because to them PBS is still outside the government and they want our political style to remain as it was when we were in the opposition.
Delete“However, our struggle in defending the welfare of the rakyat in Sabah is not solely dependent on our political style. PBS had chosen the opposition path but we realized that the rakyat’s welfare is more important,” he stressed.
Delete
DeletePairin pointed out that it is important for the BN government to be given the mandate in the coming election so that it can continue with its transformation programs effectively.
