PENAMPANG: The proposed Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the illegal immigrants in Sabah and the issuance of Malaysian documents to them, shall include investigation on the rampant issuance of Bumiputera certificate to those unqualified to get it.
Being a 71 year old activist, I have seen with my own eyes documents whereby granting even pure Chinese the status as Bumiputera when they could not even trace indigenous blood in their family tree.
I still do keep some documents to share with the RCI. I could not simply reveal those names right now. But I know for sure there exist this scandal after scandal that grant certain pure Chinese this certificate in order for the recipients to use it to buy Native Title lands.
Without prejudice, I think the Kota Kinabalu District Chief, OKK William Majimbun shall be able to enlighten us and the RCI on how rampant this scandal is over the years, and that many NT lands have transferred ownership to these newly-created Bumiputera who happen to have access to funds.
There is even talk that even Chinese from Hong Kong and Taiwan managed to get this Bumiputera certificate through dubious means. While I have no knowledge on this one, I think it is more the reason to get it put under RCI investigation too, moreover it also affects sovereignty of Sabah.
If true, than I can understand why Sabahan Chinese like YB Jimmy Wong, are so frustrated at what is happening to their Bumiputera certificates.
Nevertheless, I do have documents from the National Registration Department of one particular ethnic Chinese whose parents never had a Malaysian identity cards but was granted by a Kota Kinabalu Native Court a Bumiputera status certificate anyway. This particular person had since been using her new identity to buy and accumulate NT lands.
This must be only the tip of the iceberg, and the RCI is the best to investigate it. I hope Prime Minister Najib Razak will look into this suggestion favorably.

The PM will never look into any suggestion favorably. The RCI, if it ever happens will be a scam. Don't be fooled anymore! BN/UMNO strength comes from giving out these favors for a simple vote. If they take away these favors they loose their votes and that equates to loosing power and money. It's simple as that. The only way is to seek a complete break away.

DeleteRCI, we have laws in M'sia. The illegal immigrants are also human. We cannot in our adily life keep on condemning them in public but quietly, employ them in our homes, restaurants and workshops. They have skills and we can make them pay taxes and register them. Otherwise, we can send them home. What is the objective of setting up the RCI for the them? There is a provision in our constitution for foreigners to become the citizen of the country (like any other countries). If we do come across any wrong doings, just report them to the police and they will be investigated. To form a RCI for something that is already legal is simply a waste of public funs. We have systems, procedures, practices and laws. Go along this line and we will see the light at the en of the tunnel. Politician of confrontation has always seen a chain reaction and normally, an ugly outcome. But, Government already agree setting up RCI hopefully can get good outcome.

DeleteThe Way I see it is This: RCI on Illegal Immigrants is a separate and totally different issue than of that being stated by Mr Fredoline Edwin Lojingki.
ReplyDeleteThe purpose of the RCI is to address the influx of illegal immigrants. It is in my pesonal opinion that with the findings of this RCI will bear fruits in terms of forming a strategy that can bring about to an end to this issue: be that by improving current existing plans such as the 5P or the 4p that both at state and federal level currently apply to address this problem. If not a new approach that might arise from the findings of this matter.
This matter of "Bumiputera certificate" should have been brought to the attention of the Native Courts rather than the RCI. I fear that this matter will only distract if not make things more complicated on what the initial setting up of the RCI.
Tindakan pantas untuk memutuskan keputusan menubuhkan RCI amat diperlukan.
