Police report on alleged bids to bribe voters
PENAMPANG: A group of voters in the district yesterday lodged a report with the district police on allegations of attempts to bribe voters into changing their voting district.
According to the group, their report was made following a report lodged by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth on September 24 about a similar allegation which was supposed to have happened in Likas.
“We are making this report for the police to initiate investigation on possible bribery exercises for voters to change their address from Kampung Serapung in Moyog to another voting district, Sepanggar.
“It was also alleged that a sum of RM200 per voter had been promised in exchange for changing their voting address and an additional RM10 for the requisite fees payable to the National Registration Department,” they added.
“We trust that the police will not delay this investigation and the relevant authorities will look into this allegation,” they said.
Meanwhile, district police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh confirmed that the report was lodged at about noon.
On Tuesday, SAPP vice president Datuk Wong Yit Ming claimed that transferring of voters had been done at Likas Square Complex and most of the voters’ residential addresses were Taman Bukit Keramat.
Wong added that SAPP approached the Election Commission (EC) workers to ask why the registration of Taman Bukit Keramat voters was being done at Likas Square Complex.
He said the EC workers explained to him that the registration exercise was done based on a request.
Wong added that SAPP also found that any new voters registered as Api-Api voters would be rewarded with RM200.
Wong, who is also SAPP Api-Api Central Liaison Committee chairman, said SAPP believed the transfer of voters from other regions is illegal and it would affect the racial structure of Api-Api constituency.
At present, 80 per cent of Api-Api voters are Chinese.
SAPP Youth has lodged a police report on the matter.

ReplyDeleteIn this GE13, all the party import in Sabah should be rejected by all the Sabahans!
People of Sabah has awaken and want Autonomy!
DeleteThe proof that they shown was a legal application, its so hard to put a charges on BN.
Deletewe hope election will be held with clean and fair.
Deleteyou want autonomy?! think realistically first and don't say the government has never brought development to sabah. think twice before voting for the opposition... then again, is sabah really ready to rule by themselves???
ReplyDeletePpl rush to support non-realistic plans by showing their distinctive.
DeleteSabah to rule by themselves? Look at the local opposition. Do you think they are strong enough? Their chances to win is so little.
Deletemake sure that you choose the right choice. not regret in the end of the day.
DeleteNo Autonomy, No Economy.
ReplyDeleteWithout good plan, without good leader, future gone.
DeleteThink before we make any decision, do we understand pakatan rakyat plans? not really, they should have come out something, its not convincing enough to gain a vote from me.
DeleteIf the people say No...it wouldn't happen.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, voter are applied to change resident address, legal stuff...maybe 1 day we need to do that as well.
DeleteThe visit of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to Kota Belud to attend an Aidilfitri gathering has been described as a major coup for the ruling coalition as well as a fitting tribute to the people of this Barisan Nasional bastion.
ReplyDeleteSalleh pointed out that while the opposition continued to hoodwink the voters by making lots of pledges, Najib was busy implementing projects and programmes that brought actual benefit to the people.
DeleteSalleh also agreed with Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman on the need for the people to retain the BN in power, not only in Sabah, but also in Putrajaya.
DeleteSabah under Musa’s leadership also benefited from the state government’s initiatives, in particular programmes to boost the economy and standard of living of the people.
ReplyDeleteMusa said Sabah and its people would suffer a setback if they pick the wrong party and leader to form the government after the general election
Deleteagain what did he say? just copy and paste :)
DeleteIt is good to remain people what government said. Beside opposition also keep repeated their statements. Keep it up!!!
DeleteMatlamat menghalalkan cara.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. No one is above the law.
ReplyDeleteIf they have the evidence, at least people can believe them. But they don't have it.
DeleteSabah has been allocated RM4.416 billion under the Second Rolling Plan (of the 10th Malaysia Plan) to carry out 724 projects. And as of May 3 this year, a sum of RM692 million or 15.6 per cent of the allocation for 2012 had been spent on development projects.Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman made the disclosure after chairing the State Action Committee meeting. Musa said he had reminded every ministry and related departments to ensure all government initiatives were made known to the people, especially projects that would benefit the target groups.
ReplyDeleteMusa also said members of the committee were also told yesterday that what mattered most was the people’s satisfaction towards the initiatives undertaken by the government in terms of services, wealth creation and effectiveness in resolving problems. The civil servants too play a crutial role in state development: the Chief Minister urged members of the civil service to ensure the projects listed under the Second Rolling Plan achieved their objectives.Meanwhile, Musa urged Sabahans who had gone to the peninsula to look for jobs to return to Sabah. He said there were currently some 20,000 job available in the State. Those who have experience working in the hotel and service industry should come back as a lot of hotels and resorts are being built throughout the State.Planning and policy-makers should be ‘people oriented’ to create a community-friendly environment by providing access facilities based on a standard that is universally acceptable.
DeleteMinister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said, accessibility is not just going in and out of buildings, but cover all other aspects such as the road system and public transport facilities. She believes that if all the basic facilities for the disabled are given attention, there would be more people with disabilities (OKU) being able to contribute to the economic development and the government would not need to spend a lot of money just by giving aid.The government takes serious care and concern for the disabled with the introduction of the Disabled Persons Act 2008. Under the Act, the disabled has the right to access and use the facilities, amenities, services and public buildings. Therefore, the government or the provider of any facility, amenity, service and public buildings must give appropriate consideration and take the necessary steps to conform to the universally acceptable design in order to facilitate access for the disabled.
DeleteChief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said the Barisan Nasional (BN) government would continue to make it a priority to fulfill its promises to the people and attend to their problems. He said the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, was a clear example of this as he continuously meets the grassroots during walkabouts. The leaders of the country are confident in meeting the people face-to-face because they can fulfill the promises made to the rakyat. In this way, the people can air their problems directly so that the leaders can solve them immediately. Musa said it was different from the opposition leaders who often made empty promises because they could not honour them. He said they were more interested in getting the power to rule and not in defending the interests of the people as shown by what has happened in states controlled by the opposition.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Musa who is also the Sabah Umno chief, reminded party members in the state not to be excessively concerned by the choice of candidates in the upcoming general election. He said they should focus all their efforts in updating the BN party machinery in order to ensure the people returned the mandate to the ruling government. Furthermore, he said if they were caught up with the issue of candidates, they would not be able to focus on serving the people. “The choice of candidates in BN is determined by the leadership . What is important is for us to work harder to make sure the party remains strong and the party machinery is regularly updated.
