Massive traffic jam every morning because of delay

KOTA KINABALU: Delay in completion of the sewerage pipe laying project is causing much inconvenience to motorists at the busy intersection in Lido especially during rush hours.

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Information Chief, Chong Pit Fah said they had received so many complaints from the public who were forced to endure inconvenience due to the massive traffic jam every morning there.

“What is the government doing about this? We want to know what is taking them so long to complete the work?” he asked in a statement here.

“They say that construction of the railway lines in Tibet was the most difficult job in the world but it was completed within two years. Here, it is taking so many months just to lay the sewerage pipes,” he said.

SAPP urged the government to complete the project quickly since the traffic light intersection in Lido is known to be among if not the busiest in State as thousands of motorists are using it to go to the State Capital from Penampang, Jalan Tuaran and Kepayan.

“This is a matter of setting the priority right,” said Chong.

  17. I share the views of Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) Sabah Chapter. It's chief Lo Su Yin stated that multi-storey car parks are essential short and medium term solutions, but they are not the final solution to the traffic congestion in the city.

    5. Therefore there is a need for a changed anad different professional approach is demanded by the accelerating transformations in the environment for making and managing buildings and places within the immediate vacinity ok Kota Kinabalu.

    6. These transformations are arising from the desperate global need to escape the toxic combination of short term thinking and institutional inertia that has a stranglehold on most of the public life.
