Massive traffic jam every morning because of delay
KOTA KINABALU: Delay in completion of the sewerage pipe laying project is causing much inconvenience to motorists at the busy intersection in Lido especially during rush hours.
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Information Chief, Chong Pit Fah said they had received so many complaints from the public who were forced to endure inconvenience due to the massive traffic jam every morning there.
“What is the government doing about this? We want to know what is taking them so long to complete the work?” he asked in a statement here.
“They say that construction of the railway lines in Tibet was the most difficult job in the world but it was completed within two years. Here, it is taking so many months just to lay the sewerage pipes,” he said.
SAPP urged the government to complete the project quickly since the traffic light intersection in Lido is known to be among if not the busiest in State as thousands of motorists are using it to go to the State Capital from Penampang, Jalan Tuaran and Kepayan.
“This is a matter of setting the priority right,” said Chong.

"What is the government doing about this?"
DeleteFaktor2 lain perlu diambil kira contohnya cuaca, bahan etc
ReplyDeleteya lah...faktor2 lain ni pun mesti diambil kira...
DeleteMembaiki jalan tu pembangunan bandar juga, rosak mestilah nak baiki. Kalau jam terlampau keluar awal pigi kerja.
DeleteHopefully this can be completed as soon as possible.
ReplyDeletekalau cuaca bagus, siap cepat lah tu kali..
Deletekeadaan cuaca sekarang juga menjadi faktor kerja2 tertangguh
Deletekadang kala hujan lebat susah nak baiki tu.
ReplyDeleteWhat is happening, actually? is it delay or they are still doing within the time given... something need to be done.
ReplyDeleteIt is disturbing the people for now but please be in mind that it is for the long term uses.
ReplyDeleteHope they manage to make sure all are clear within the time given.
ReplyDeleteI share the views of Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) Sabah Chapter. It's chief Lo Su Yin stated that multi-storey car parks are essential short and medium term solutions, but they are not the final solution to the traffic congestion in the city.
DeleteThe medium and long term solution must be a well planned public transport system.
The situation of traffic jam in Kota Kinabalu will reach crisis point if we do not act now and plan ahead.
DeleteTherefore Lo urge the Mayor to take the initiative to study the matter urgently and come up with holistic solutions.
DeleteLo said it is difficult to imagine how the car-dominated economy can survive the double jeopardy of the climate change and the end of cheap oil.
Delete
DeleteTherefore there is a need for a changed anad different professional approach is demanded by the accelerating transformations in the environment for making and managing buildings and places within the immediate vacinity ok Kota Kinabalu.
DeleteThese transformations are arising from the desperate global need to escape the toxic combination of short term thinking and institutional inertia that has a stranglehold on most of the public life.
Lo added that countryside and agricultural lands are under increasing pressure due to urbanisation and the need to house the rising population.
Delete
DeleteMore roads have to be built with existing roads widened to cater for the increase in private car.
City centres are being dissected by seas of highways and isolated building blocks, becoming unfriendly to pedestrians.
DeleteAll this is depleting our precious land and natural resources. We need to review our outdated by-laws to allow and encourage the majority of the population to live, work and play within 10 minutes of walking distance.
Delete
DeleteWe should be building dwellings within city centre to co-exist with shops, offices, government buildings and public amenities.
DeleteThis will not only help to alleviate pressure on greenfield lands, it will create less toxic gases to our atmosphere, giving more air to the pollution.
DeleteLo said he will propose to his committee to study the public transportation plan as a contribution to the community.
He hoped the City Hall will effectively and speedily complete the public hearings and submit the plan for approval and adoption.

DeleteMeanwhile, Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir, in a speech at the event read by City Hall director general Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, said the City Hall is grateful to PAM Sabah Chapter for its very comprehensive submission and interest in the planning of Kota Kinabalu City and in particular the Draft Kota Kibabalu Local Plan 2020.
It requires much hard work to get the majority of the participating members to agree to something which as a group find important.
DeleteLo expressed his grattitude to PAM Sabah Chapter for all the hard work, patience and negotiations put into the review of the residential building setbacks which have now been incorporated into the Memorandum to the Draft KK Local Plan 2020.
