Deepak: Rosmah involved in Bala's SD reversal

Gobind: We don't know Deepak's debt details

DAP's Puchong MP Gobind Deo Singh shot down allegations against him and Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua that they were privy to an alleged debt settlement deal with businessperson Deepak Jaikishan's in exchange for levelling accusations against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"I am telling them here and now that we are not privy to Deepak's debt details nor his debt settlement arrangements, if any. "We really have no reason to be privy to such details at all, he said in a statement today.

He was responding to Perkasa information chief Ahmad Ruslan and former acting Perak PKR Youth chief Faizal Effendi Hasin who had called on the DAP MPs to reveal details of the alleged deal.

Gobind challenged the duo to produce evidence instead of trying to sidetrack from Deepak's allegations against the premier and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

"If they have no evidence of this, and I am sure they have none, then they should just shut up and get on to other more important things like asking the prime minister and his wife to respond to the allegations made by Deepak of late.

"Perhaps they can tell us, shouldn't we be told why Altantuya was killed?" he said.

Deepak had claimed that, at Rosmah's request, he had made private investigators P Balasubramaniam reverse his statutory declaration linking the premier to murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Like in the deaths of Teoh Beng Hock, A Kugan, Aminulrasyid Amzah and Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed where an inquiry is held, Gobind said the premier and attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail should know what to do in Altantuya's case.

The attorney-general knows that inquiries in cases like these are meant to dig out the truth. Who did it and more importantly why? Were others involved? If there were, shouldn't they be probed as well and punished if found guilty," he asked.

    2. Deepak had rather vocally accused Senator Raja Ropiaah Abdullah of "stealing" land valued at RM400 million from his company, Astacanggih Shd Bhd. She was then accused of reselling it, going on make a series of personal attacks on the Prime Minister and his wife.

    3. However, it soon became clear that the claims lacked credibility after a secretly recorded video emerged which implicated Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in conspiring against Umno and Datuk Seri Najib Razak

    4. Despite his attacks on Najib and Rosmah, Deepak says he isn't political by nature and has no agenda to undermine the PM. He said he is a member of no political party and that his only interest is business – though few are convinced by his defence

    5. Meanwhile, lawyer Latheefa Koya said that Deepak had changed his lawyers on short notice today. She said that Deepak's matter, including the withdrawal, was handled by another firm, adding that no reason was given for the change of lawyers. Could it be that, by getting involved in the Opposition's game of political chess, he realised he was merely a pawn?
