Can Najib guarantee Sabah’s security?
How can ‘heavily armed’ people in military uniforms arrive in tourists boats on Sabah shores unnoticed?
KOTA KINABALU: The government’s handling of the recent tense situation involving some 100 “heavily-armed and uniformed” intruders from Sulu, who had “penetrated Sabah’s supposedly well-guarded border”, has raised both doubts and questions over Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s commitment to state security.
Questioning the “inconsistent” details that had been filtering out of Lahad Datu following the incident, State Reform Party (STAR) chief Jeffrey Kitingan said the lack of information spoke volumes about the efficiency of the state’s security personnel.
“We have been denied the explanation of how this huge number of intruders managed to penetrate our supposedly well-guarded border, even landing and reaching an estate area in Lahad Datu.
“We are told they came in pump boats while others said they came in tourist boats. This is ridiculous. How can at least 80 ‘heavily armed’ people in military uniforms be in tourists boats and not been noticed?
“Do we have a lot of tourist boats crossing the Sulu-Sabah border on a daily basis? Who operates such tourist boats? And are they carrying tourists from Sabah to Sulu or vice versa?” he asked.
Jeffrey also found it odd that the authorities had denied that these “uniformed and armed tourists” were not militants.
“We are told these people are not militants, but what else should you call a group of people in combat uniforms who are ‘heavily armed’?
“Just because they are not from the MILF [Moro Islamic Liberation Front], MNLF [Moro National Liberation Front] or Abu Sayyaf doesn’t mean they are not militants.
Militant objective
“In fact, the claim that they want to be recognised as the Royal Sulu Sultanate Army and demanding that the Sulu people in Sabah be not deported back to their homeland is clear proof of their militant objective,” said Jeffrey.
He also reminded the authorities to bear in mind that there had been many people who had in the past claimed to be sultans of Sulu.
“As such, we must look at these intruders as invaders intending to establish military and administrative control over Sabah.
“The fact that the police are negotiating with them, supposedly to avoid bloodshed, may be wise, but Malaysia must demonstrate its firmness and assert its sovereignty, and deal with all such intruders decisively,” he said.
Jeffrey said the fact that Najib had expressed concern, wanting to avoid bloodshed because “they [militants] had relatives” showed that Sabah had been “infiltrated”.
“The prime minister is worried about bloodshed because they [militants] have relatives here. It shows that we have already been infiltrated and held at ransom by illegal immigrants who had been made citizens overnight. Crime doesn’t consider relatives.
“Asking them to leave politely will not guarantee they will not return in larger numbers to pursue their objective of invading Sabah. These people must first of all be disarmed and be punished according to the laws of the land,” Jeffrey said.

You will be fined RM10,000 and/or put in jail for 7 years for illegal possession of a firearm but just a slap on the wrist for illegally crossing the border heavily armed, making threats and demands?
ReplyDeleteMALAYSIA FORMED ON FALSE PROMISES OF "SECURITY & PROSPERITY"
DeleteReaders can choose one or a couple of the following options:
1. The EASY entry of 80 armed men into Sabah shows that Malaya has failed again to live up to its promises of guaranteeing Sabah or Sarawak's border security which was a main reason for forming "Malaysia".
This failure to prevent armed men from entering Sabah not to say illegal instant voters only depressingly confirms that Malaya UMNO is playing its usual cynical manipulation game by creating an incident.
2. OR Did UMNO as an election gimmick, deliberately allow these 80 (pretend) "foreign" armed men (may be Malayan occupation forces in Sabah masquerading as such) to show UMNO's efficiency in patrolling our borders?
3.OR is there a high level of connivance between UMNO BN Gov't and foreign forces- for whatever reasons?
4. What is UMNO's motive? Is UMNO planning to recruit foreign forces to keep Sabah and Sarawak under its colonial yoke just as it has done by importing illegals into the 2 Malayan colonies?
SABAHANS- No Malaysia apologist OR boot licker can explain this serious breach of your security. Armed men have come and gone as they wish since 1963.
The first group of armed men were British and Malayan invading forces when they enter Borneo to suppress the anti-Malaysia Brunei independence uprising.
Our forefathers' failure to join the general uprising for Borneo independence condemned us into a HELL HOLE called "Malaysia" for 50 years.
ARISE & RESIST ANOTHER 50 YEARS OF EXISTING MALAYSIA HELL HOLE!
VOTE AGAINST ALL MALAYAN PARTIES!
DEMAND A DE-COLONISATION INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM!
I don't see the point of any opposition party to capitalize this issue for their own selfish gain for the pending election. If these party are truely sincere in helping to resolve this situation, they should come together and join the the government to work a clear cut remedy to resolve the situation. Finger pointing without providing clear solution to the situation at hand will not achieve this matter. The state government and federal government are doing their best to contain the situation without causing an international incident. I suggest all you opposition politicus to put your political agenda aside and asist the government to ensure the worst case scenario will not come to reality.
DeletePut aside your political differences! This is not the time to politicize this situation. The situation outweighted your petty agenda. As Malaysians this is the time we put aside our political differences and come together to resolve the situation.
