GE13: Jeffrey - Both BN, PR not relevant to Sabah and S'wak

(ARCHIVE) Published on: Tuesday, January 04, 2011 (Daily Express) - KOTA KINABALU: Ex-PKR Vice-President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan regretted that word of his exit from the party had been circulated distastefully, even before he was able to hold a press conference on the matter after the New Year celebrations.

He confirmed having submitted a letter of resignation to PKR President, Dato Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, dated Dec. 31.

He said his decision to leave Parti Keadilan Rakyat was because he realised that regardless of whether Barisan Nasional or opposition Pakatan Rakyat (of which PKR is a component) forms the next government remains largely irrelevant to the Borneo states (Sabah and Sarawak) if the Borneo Agenda remains irrelevant to them.

"If we continue to be disenfranchised and denied the right to participate equally in the political decision making process in Parliament and denied the right to review our share of the oil revenue, there is no sense in this type of political allegiance because Sabahans and Sarawakians are then left fighting for the scraps and not having a chunk of a very large cake," he said in a statement.
