TAWAU: Datuk Chua Soon Bui, SAPP candidate for Tawau parliament constituency has challenged all the BN Tawau candidates to a public debate on various pressing issues affecting the State and the people of Tawau, in particular.
She stressed that this should be the appropriate approach for any aspiring candidate who wishes to get elected as the people’s representative in the coming general election, instead of resorting to all sorts of unethical and cowardice acts to slander their opponents.
Chua (picture) stressed this while dismissing the recent news reports quoting Mohammed Dahu, the brother of SAPP candidate for Apas, Tahir Dahu that 500 SAPP members had defected to UMNO.
She also challenged Mohammed to produce the names of the so-called 500 SAPP members of the so-called 11 branches, to substantiate his claim.
Regretting that Mohammed has gone all out to sabotage his own brother Tahir’s campaign, she urged the former to resolve his family feud amicably.
She also expressed regret that BN/UMNO Tawau had stoop so low to use various media organizations like RTM, TV3 and others, to spin the fabricated news to mislead the people, so as to undermine the credibility of SAPP.
She expressed regret that SAPP Tawau has become the main target of unethical campaigning by BN Tawau using government media to sabotage SAPP.
Chua claimed that it was a concerted effort of her opponents from BN, namely BN-UMNO Apas candidate, Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, BN-PBS candidate for parliament Tawau, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching and BN-PBS candidate for Sri Tanjung, Fung Len Fui, to discredit SAPP so that they could win the election.
“What moral legitimacy do they have to become an elected representative, by resorting to such a dirty tactics?” she questioned.
Chua who is also a vice president of SAPP nonetheless was convinced that the people of Tawau are wise enough to spot and reject such a dirty tactic.
She further said she would not hesitate to lodge an official report with the relevant authorities like the police and the Election Commission, if her opponents continue with such a dirty tactic to undermine SAPP.
