Sabah police receive 29 reports from voters unhappy over use of indelible ink

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police have received 29 reports from voters who were not happy with the indelible ink used in the voting process for the 13th General Election (GE13) throughout Sabah.

Sabah police commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said from the total Kota Belud recorded the highest number of complains with 9 followed by Beaufort, Kota Kinabalu (5), Beluran (5), Tuaran (4), Sandakan (2), Tawau (2) and Tenom (1).

Hamza said throughout the process of voting today, 10 reports were also received, related to misuse of identity cards.

"In all the 29 police reports, voters had alleged that the indelible ink could be removed easily unlike what was said of the ink earlier," he told reporters, here, today.

As for complains about identity cards, Hamza said most of the reports were related to misuse of their identity card numbers by irresponsible people.

Hamza also urged members of the public to not believe rumours spread through short service messages that a particular party had already won, because the official announcement will be done by the Election Commission (EC).

"People should also avoid public gatherings and report to the police if there gatherings at their location because it is an offence," he said. --BERNAMA
