KOTA KINABALU - A married woman was detained by the State Islamic Affairs Department (JHEAINS) for close proximity with a man, at a condominium here in the wee hours, today.
According to reliable sources, the 48-year-old woman is a senior executive of a luxury car company here and although she has been separated from her husband, they are still legally married and they have a child.
She was alleged to be having an affair with her work colleague, 40, who is said to be the general manager in the same company. The man who is also a Muslim is from Peninsular Malaysia is also married.
They are also believed to be living together for some time now.
Their arrest was prompted by a report lodged by the woman’s husband with JHEAINS’ enforcement division, after he suspected something was amiss with his wife.
When contacted later, an enforcement officer of JHEAINS, Imam Norisham Purah confirmed the arrest.
“Based on the report, a team was rushed to the condominium at about 2am. Upon arrival, the enforcement personnel knocked on the door and was greeted by a man 20 minutes later,” he said.
After getting permission to enter the premises, they found the woman in one of the rooms.
“The couple were brought to the police station in the city for further investigation and to have their statements recorded,” he said.
He further noted that JHEAINS officers also recorded statements from the woman and her partner, adding that their Public Prosecutor will process the investigation papers and to submit them to the Syariah Court here, soon.
When met at the police station, the woman’s husband expressed deep regret and disappointment over his wife’s conduct.
“Whatever she did not only brought shame to the family. Only God understands how I feel right now. Both of them should be ashamed of themselves because they are still attached to their spouses,” he said.
