Its Director Noor Alam Khan Abdul Wahid Khan (pic) said the department is ready for the large-scale nationwide integrated operation but plans had to be fine-tuned due to changes in the targeted locations.
He said the exercise would be led by the Special Task Force, followed by the Immigration Department, police, Fifth Infantry Brigade, People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), Civil Defence Department, National Registration Department and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.
"Our focus would be in locations where foreigners are concentrated such as construction sites, industrial areas, plantations, water villages and factories," he told a media conference during the Immigration Department's Hari Raya Open House, here, Tuesday.
On another note, he said the department was also conducting its ongoing routine operation Statewide.
"On Tuesday, a total of four Indonesian women and 10 Filipinos comprising five men and five women were detained during our routine operation conducted from 12.15am to 2.25am under Section 6(1)(c) for failure to produce any documents," he said.
The operation, he said, was conducted in Menggatal and Telipok where 71 people, comprising 33 men and 38 women, aged between nine months and 47 years, were inspected.
He said five Filipinos were also detained for the same offence during an operation conducted from 9am to 11.30am on Monday, adding that the operation was conducted in Asia City and the city centre.
"We do not just focus on Filipinos and Indonesians but it just so happens that there are many here perhaps due to us being a neighbouring country, but based on our record there are other nationalities but it is not obvious," he said.
"From January to July this year, a total of 8,223 illegals were deported with Filipino nationals making up the biggest number accounting for 6,304, followed by Indonesian nationals (1,806), China nationals (36), Vietnamese (30) and Pakistani (29)," he said, adding that also deported were nationals from Ukraine, Germany, Nepal and Brunei.
He said last year, a total of 6,615 illegals were deported over the same period indicating an increase by 21.58 per cent, adding that this showed that there was improvement in terms of enforcement and control as well as awareness and cooperation from every quarter including civilians.
"We have a total of 2,628 illegals detained in three Temporary Detention Centres in Papar, Sibuga in Sandakan and Tawau who are waiting for the deportation process," he said.
He said deportation is conducted twice a week, through Sandakan and Tawau where five buses which can accommodate about 200 people would be utilised during the process.
"We try to clear the deportation process within three months but it would take longer for cases where Filipino nationals are concerned because they have to be referred to their Consulate in Kuala Lumpur prior to deportation," he said.
