Police confirm shot ex-RMAF personnel as gang leader

IPOH - Police today confirmed that the former Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel shot dead here yesterday was the Batu Gajah chief of Gang 36.

Perak CID chief Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said investigations revealed that S. Jambukeshan, 39, was shot dead following a quarrel among three secret societies, namely the 36, 04 and 08 gangs.

"The fight was apparently over control of drug trafficking areas," he told reporters after the ceremony where Perak CPO Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan handed over duties to his successor Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani at the Perak Police headquarters, here.

Jambukeshan was gunned down at 7.15 am as he was removing goods from his car in front of a restaurant in Taman Rishah, Silibin. The father of three died while being rushed by family members to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

Mohd Dzuraidi said police knew who the two suspects were and did not rule out the possibility that more than two people were involved.

"We are confident of arresting the suspects although they were wearing face masks and the windscreen and windows of the car they used had a dark tint," he said.

Mohd Dzuraidi the police had recorded statements from two witnesses at the scene of the shooting.
