Bring it on, Khalid tells PKR

PETALING JAYA - Beleaguered Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has denied any accusations of wrongdoings as alleged by PKR, following the party’s latest attempt to ‘expose’ him.

In a statement, Khalid said the accusations levelled against him were “categorically untrue” and “very serious”.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was reported to have said that the party planned to release a document on Khalid, in an attempt to convince the party’s allies on the need to remove him.

Instead, the Selangor Mentri Besar said the party should immediately report him to the authorities if they believe the allegations to be true.

“If Datuk Saifuddin believes them to be true, he and his associates should immediately lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Royal Malaysian Police and Bank Negara, as well as immediately expose any all evidence to substantiate his claims.

“Failure to do so can only invite speculation that these accusations are politically motivated and in bad faith,” he added.

The Port Klang assemblyman also said he pledged his commitment to cooperate fully with any and all investigations.

“I also reserve my right to initiate any legal proceedings arising from defamatory statements made against me.

“In the meantime, I will continue to serve the people of Selangor to the best of my ability, with the fullest commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance,” he said.

Saifuddin was reported to have said that the document detailed court cases where Khalid was involved in an out of court settlement with Bank Islam over the RM66.67mil Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd shares when he was the group’s chief executive officer.

The 40-page document also highlighted a land deal to a public-listed property corporation under the state government’s affordable housing programme below a market price.

The copies of the document would be distributed to all Pakatan Rakyat leaders beginning Tuesday.
