Penang cops investigating ‘nude games’ at Teluk Kampi

GEORGE TOWN - State police are investigating claims of a “Penang Nude Sport Games”, following a video clip of a nudist event purportedly held on a beach at the Taman Negara in Teluk Bahang here.

Northeast district police chief Supt Lai Fah Hin confirmed the probe.

“We will investigate this under Section 509 of Penal of Code for using words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person,” he said.

The five-and-half minute clip shows a group of 18 nude people engaging in outdoor activities on a secluded beach believed to be on the Penang island.

The state chapter of Malay rights group Perkasa filed a report over the video at the George Town police district headquarters today.

“We condemn this uncivilized group who acted like animals and have no respect for a public place,” said Penang Perkasa Youth chief Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin, who lodged the report.

He urged authorities to investigate the issue, saying its dissemination has hurt the sensitivities of all Malaysians and damaged the country’s reputation.

“If they are foreigners, we urge the Home Ministry to blacklist them from ever entering this country again to prevent them from doing this again,” he said.

Earlier today, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he was unaware of such an event.

He also emphasised that the Penang government would not allow such activities in the state

A summary of the video – which was credited to one Albert Yam – claimed the event was held two months ago.
