KOTA KINABALU - Police have dismissed claims of a murderer on the loose as a picture of a bloodied armed man makes its rounds in the social media.
“It’s a rumour, and has no basis,” said Kota Kinabalu police chief Assist Comm M. Chandra as social media spread the word that the murderer was last seen heading to Luyang and Penampang after killing someone in town.
He urged the public not to be taken in by such irresponsible actions and not to continue spreading rumours.
The rumour started when a picture of a shirtless bloodied man holding a machete started circulating early Monday, causing a stir among netizens especially around the Penampang district and Kota Kinabalu.
