KUALA LUMPUR - Overnight leader Nicholas Fung claimed his second Asian Development Tour (ADT) win after romping to a commanding 11-stroke victory at the PGM Johor Championship today.
Fung, the 2013 ADT Order of Merit winner, nailed nine birdies against a lone bogey to match his third round efforts of an eight-under-par 64 at the Johor Golf and Country Club in Johor Bahru.
His winning total of 27-under-par 261 would have been the record lowest 72-hole score on the ADT if not for the preferred lies in play.
"I felt unstoppable out there. The birdies just kept coming. I didn't expect this. I thought I would be under pressure playing with Lam (Lam Chih Bing) and Nachimuthu but I reminded myself to just play my own game and not think too much.
"I enjoyed myself out there and I'm happy with the results," said Fung as quoted in ADT official website, www.asiandevelopmenttour.com.
The final round of the PGM Johor Championship was suspended at 12.46 pm due to lightning threats before resuming close to three hours later.
The delay, however, did not dampen Fung's spirits, who eventually became the third Malaysian to win on the ADT this season.
"This win would be a good preparation for me when I return to play on the Asian Tour in two weeks time.
The world ranking points I received will also be a great boost as it puts me in a better position to try and qualify for the Olympics next year," added the 24-year-old Sabahan.
Fung pocketted winner's prize purse of USD$9,560 (about RM35,000) and received six Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points courtesy of his win.
While Singapore's Lam Chih Bing and Malaysia's R.
Nachimuthu shared second place following an identical 71 in today's final round.
