KOTA KINABALU - Security forces will review the dusk to dawn curfew in the Eastern Sabah Security zone (Esszone) following a robbery at a lobster farm in Semporna last week.
Sabah police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman when responding to questions by reporters said that the robbery, which occurred at Pulau Bait Semporna at about 3am on May 7 happened during curfew hours.
“We will review the effectiveness of the 7pm to 5am curfew, and have discussions with the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscome) on it,” he said on Wednesday.
Jalaluddin also said that the incident at the lobster farm that saw two workers robbed by a group of three masked men might have had inside help.
“They must have had help from locals or someone from the island to pull such a stunt off,” he said.
It is learnt that one of the suspects, who spoke fluent Bahasa Malaysia, had asked for the owner who was not on the premises and had threatened to return.
The three masked men then grabbed handphones, about RM400 and laptops from the victims before fleeing the island towards Pulau Timbun Mata in a boat where another two accomplices were waiting.
No shots were fired and no one was hurt in the incident.
