Give mountain guides a plot of land for their heroic deeds - SAPP

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party has proposed that the State government award a piece of land each to the mountain guides of Mount Kinabalu, for their selfless effort and courage in saving lives.

Proposing this was SAPP Treasurer-general Japiril Suhaimin following a visit to Kampung Mesilou, to hand over donations to the earthquake victims there.

The delegation handed over donations in the form of rice, noodles, cooking oil and some cash, to those villagers who were affected by the recent earthquake.

They also met with the Persatuan Malim-Malim Gunung members.

They were received by the JKKK chairman Japudin Gandipal, Village chief Tony Gabintal and a couple of villagers.

Besides this, SAPP also donated cash to the Persatuan Malim-Malim Gunung which was received by its president Richard Soibi and witnessed by some of its 250 members.

They were visibly touched by kind-heartedness not only from the party but also from many quarters, showing the spirit of Sabahan unity and solidarity.

In a statement issued here Thursday, Japiril who is also SAPP Kundasang chief noted that some parts of the roads in Kampung Mesilou were sinking deeper every hour as small tremors continue to occur every few hours.

This has thus caused the water pipes to burst under pressure. Kampung Mesilou is located about 2 km from Kundasang town.

Together with the SAPP group that gave cash donation to Persatuan Malim-Malim Gunung, were three individual groups, Aloysius Damin Siap and family, Sabah Shell Petroleum Corporation /Epoms Ltd and the Liew family from Moyog.

Present at the occasion were SAPP deputy presidents Hj Amde Sidik, Melanie Chia and Edward Dagul, Vice president Aloysius Siap, and youth chief Jamian Sarudin, and other party officials.
