DAP Junz publicly apologises to Yong over 2013 Facebook post

KOTA KINABALU - Likas state assemblyman Junz Wong has publicly apologised to Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee for statements made on social media during the 13th general election.

DAP's Wong made the apology and retraction in advertisements placed in two local Chinese language dailies – See Hua Daily News and Overseas Chinese Daily News (OCDN) – on Thursday.

The advertisements were part of a settlement in a defamation suit filed by Yong.

The apology was over a Facebook post made during the 2013 polls in which Wong had alleged Yong of having worked out a RM50mil deal with Barisan Nasional.

The settlement was reached between the parties on Dec 3 last year.

When asked about the apology, Yong said it had cleared his name and SAPP and that he is relieved that the truth has prevailed.

“Dirty political tactics and lies can only achieve short term results but will not last in the long run. This has been proven time and time again,” he said - Star Online
