SAPP leaders humiliated and ridiculed because of Junz Wong's lie

KOTA KINABALU - DAP Likas Assemblyman Junz Wong's publication of the Consent Judgement and his retraction and apology in his FaceBook account of the allegation made against Datuk Yong Teck Lee for having received RM50 million from the Prime Minister Datuk Najib Razak before the 13th General Election had also brought great relief to Melanie Chia, SAPP Deputy President and the former Luyang State Assemblywoman.

Melanie was also a victim to the lies spread during the 13th General Election especially in the social media.  The apology by Likas State Assemblyman Junz Wong brought to light the truth and dispelled the allegations against Datuk Yong Teck and also Melanie Chia and SAPP.

Before the 13th GE, the slander against Datuk Yong was extended to attack Melanie which alleged that out of the RM50 million given to Yong, Yong had given Melanie RM5 million.  This lie was spread in the coffee shops and was widely circulated the few days just before polling via the Whatsapp and sms.

As a result of this lie that was started by DAP and spread via the social media, Melanie was humiliated when a lady voter refused to shake her hand at a polling station for reason that she believed that Melanie had benefited from the corrupt RM50 million. It is believed that SAPP candidates, leaders and members were similarly ridiculed by people who had believed the "RM50million lie".

In search of the truth and to redress the humiliation of the lie, Melanie had lodged a police report in July 2013 urging the police to investigate this lie that was spread during the election as it implicated the Prime Minister in corrupt practice. A complaint was also lodged with the office of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at Kota Kinabalu.

  1. Lying can be chronic in some instances, but the consequences can be destructive if not controlled and contained.
