Police deny arresting sacked AG Gani Patail

Police have denied arresting former attorney-general (AG) Abdul Gani Patail, who was on Tuesday sacked from his position.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Law Hong Soon warned the public against speculating on the matter, according to Bernama.

The denial came when rumours spread last night that Gani had been arrested and his home raided.

Former federal court judge Mohamed Apandi Ali replaced Gani amid the latter's involvement in the special task force probe on 1MDB.

The special task force is, among others, looking into The Wall Street Journal's allegation that RM2.6 billion of 1MDB's funds had been deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's accounts.

Concurrent with Gani's sacking, the task force investigators have also been accused of trying to topple the government.
