S'wak state assembly to be dissolved on April 11

The Sarawak state assembly will be dissolved on April 11 to pave the way for the state election, announced Chief Minister Adenan Satem today.

Following the dissolution, the Election Commission will announce the date for the nomination and polling.

This will be the first time Adenan is leading Sarawak BN in the election following Abdul Taib Mahmud's retirement as chief minister after 33 years in power.

A total of 82 state assembly seats are up for grabs in this election, up from 71 in the last state election, which was held on April 16, 2011.
