Police mount manhunt for 'John Rambo'

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are hunting down a man, known as John Rambo, in connection with an incident where two policemen were attacked in front a vacant house in Jalan Kuari, Cheras yesterday.

Police believe that the suspect, said to be in his 40s, is still in hiding in Cheras. His accomplice, identified as Tajul Rosli, 33, was nabbed at a cemetery area at Jalan Kuari, Cheras, at 9.30am this morning.

He has five drug-related cases linked to him. Both of them work as gravediggers.

"Cheras police mounted an operation to hunt the suspects this morning and captured one. We are tracking down another suspect, who is believed to be hiding near where his friend was caught," said City police Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad, in a statement.

In the 6pm incident yesterday, a team of policemen including Corporal Muztaza Nizan Minhaj and Constable Danny Sia Siaw Kian were carrying out an operation to bust drug addicts.

Muztaza and Sia were conducting a check on a woman in front of a vacant house when two parang-wielding men dashed out from the house and slashed the policemen before fleeing the scene.

Both policemen suffered injuries on their head.

They were rushed to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) for treatment. The policemen are in stable condition.
