China, Taiwan pledge further cooperation in coping telecom fraud

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council has said it will work with the Mainland in accordance with an agreement to fight crime and promote cross-strait judicial assistance.

The mainland has been looking for deepen cooperation between the pair in cracking down on crime. The State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office said that efforts are being made to further cooperation in the area.

A 10-member delegation from Taiwan visited Beijing on April 20th. The head of the delegation said the two sides will find ways to work together, both now and in the future.

"We've come to negotiate with the mainland on the basis of the cross-Strait agreement on joint crime crackdown and mutual judicial assistance. For the cases already in existence, we hope to work toward the direction that we join hands in investigating and handling them while cooperating through division of labor. For the similar cases that possibly happen in the future, we hope to establish a reasonable and regular mechanism to deal with them," said Chen Wen-chi, head of Taiwan Delegation.
