Second surgery for girl injured in Taman OUG shooting

KUALA LUMPUR - The eight-year-old girl injured in a shooting in Taman OUG is to have a second surgery to remove a bullet slug lodged in her liver.

Police said the girl is in stable but critical condition at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

In the shooting on Wednesday, the girl's mother, a real estate agent, was shot dead at close range by two assailants on a motorcycle while driving her luxury MPV in Jalan Hujan Mas, Taman OUG.

The woman had come out to eat at a restaurant nearby with five children and a maid when the assailants approached the MPV and opened fire.

The suspects are believed to have fired five shots, one of which hit the 32-year-old woman in the neck.

The girl, who was in the front passenger seat, was hit by a stray bullet.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said police are looking for more clues into the shooting and are not ruling out any angle in their investigations.

"Our investigations show that the woman's husband has a cosmetics business but we are also looking if they had other business dealings," he said Thursday.
