EPF denies existence of RM2,500 incentive for senior citizens

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has dismissed false information that the Government has allocated an incentive of RM2,500 for contributors aged 55 and above, and that they should withdraw the amount from their accounts before Dec 31, 2016.

In a statement the EPF said fake messages were being spread on messaging apps in the form of an audio clip.

"EPF wishes to state that the information is false and the said incentive mentioned in the message does not exist," it said.

EPF labelled the message as an irresponsible action which was meant to create public confusion.

It advised EPF contributors not to be influenced by such false information and stop the spread of the message.

"Members are encouraged to visit the EPF website at www.kwsp.gov.my or contact the Communications Management Centre at 03-89226000 to obtain valid information," the statement said. – Bernama
