Sabah Economy and Chinese Businesses Will Benefit with GS Govt

KOTA KINABALU -  “The Sabah Chinese community and businesses should realize that the Sabah economy will stand to benefit with a new Gabungan Sabah (GS) government.  And one of the biggest beneficiary from a stronger and robust economy will be the Chinese community and businesses” said Kong Fui Seng, Deputy President of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR).

Kong, who is contesting the Liawan State seat, in his election campaign rounds stressed that GS and STAR are fully committed to ensure Sabah Rights and the 40% net revenue entitlement and other revenues due to Sabah are implemented.

“With full autonomy that comes with Sabah Rights and the billions of revenues Sabah will be getting, the GS government will focus on development and grow the Sabah economy” added Kong.

“The 40% net revenue is expected to be about RM20 billion annually.  Imagine what level of development a GS government will be able to implement with even RM5 to RM10 billion annually?” asked Kong of his audience.

In addition, there will be no excuse of bottlenecks in planning and approvals as it is happening now with over-centralization in Kota Kinabalu and final approval from Kuala Lumpur.

The implementation of the seven (7) regional administrative regions in Sabah will enable better regional planning without any delays caused by government bureaucracy.  Development projects will also be more efficiently monitored and implemented.

For sure with the additional revenues and better planning and implementation, there will be more development in Sabah and the economic growth will be bigger and faster than what is happening now.

It is certain that the Sabah economy will grow by leaps and bounds under a GS government. The Sabah economy is not growing as it should be because of the failure of the current BN government to secure the return of Sabah’s autonomy, Sabah Rights and the revenues constitutionally due to Sabah.

The Pakatan Harapan-Warisan electoral pact will not be much better as it is going to substantially reduce Sabah’s revenue entitlements. From the 40% net revenue derived from Sabah as provided in the Federal Constitution, they promised in their Manifesto to reduce to 50% revenues collected in Sabah.  This is going to cause Sabah to lose RM15 billion annually.

With the additional revenues, even Chinese education will stand to benefit from a GS government.

As potentially the Chinese businesses will stand to benefit substantially from the stronger economy, the Chinese community should not hesitate to support Gabungan Sabah to be the next Sabah government.
