Pairin's close friend loses confidence in him, joins STAR

PENAMPANG : A local veteran activist who was active with the now-defunct UNKO, Fredoline Edwin Lojingki, said he has had enough of increasingly UMNO-leaning Joseph Pairin Kitingan and PBS lately, now lost confidence in Pairin to continue leading, especially the natives.

Lojingki, 71, who claimed to be a close friend of Pairin and many in PBS at one time, alleged that PBS has deviated from its original struggle to safeguard the state and the people especially the Kadazandusun community.

"Pairin has been more and more detached from the aspiration of the grassroots, sometimes appeared to chose UMNO and self-interests ahead of the Sabahans, and i could not support such leadership anymore," he said in a statement issued here today.

Lojingki said Pairin's statement on the NCR today which was carried by local newspapers in which he said he would wait for Musa's leadership and Cabinet decision on the NCR issue as something not a right thing for a Kadazandusun Huguan Siou to say.

"The least Pairin could do was to state his own mind on the legal issue of NCR. Why must wait for Musa or the State Cabinet ? The reporters asked him for his opinion on the NCR legality and all he said was he would wait for the Cabinet to discuss, as if he and his party PBS have no opinion or stand over it. This is frustrating many people," he said.

Wishing his old friend good luck, Lojingki said he has decided to join Pairin's younger brother Dr Jeffrey in State Reform Party (STAR). "This is the time we must unite under a new leader, if not now, then when else?" he adding that only time will tell if he has made the right decision.

  2. Pity KDM to have a leader like Pairin who never stops enriching himself and forgetting who puts him there. After being so long in politics he still acts like a novice. He should be dumped.A disgrace to PBS and to his Huguan Siow title and to his own community.

  4. Well, actually Musa Aman already stated that the NCR land issues will be discussed in the State Cabinet. They will sough after the all component party leader's opinion on the legal fraternity and deal with the issues together. Of course Pairin will wait till the discussion is made.

  5. I don't mind if he wants to leave PBS but to join STAR, i think not a best decision for him... I don't know but for me it is not a very good idea to join another party even more it is a opposition's party.

    1. PBS as a party component should wait and see what is the cabinet's decision before making their stand. The CM will soon seek Pairin's opinion on this NCR issue later.

    2. then what is the right thing for pairin to say? i think that is pairin own opinion..maybe Lojingki opinion is different from pairin but doesn't mean what pairin says is wrong..

    3. Betul tu, Lojingki mungkin ada pendapat sendiri, dan ada sebab lain kenapa beliau lompat parti, tidak bermaksud Pairin gagal menjalan tugas beliau.

    4. Musa is the cm. Of course Pairin will need to wait for MA 's leadership and cabinet decision on the NCR issue.

  9. I believe Pairin (and Musa on that matter) wanted to take into account the opinions from professionals (who have an in depth insight on the matter of NCR as well as Sabah Land Ordinance.) before making an executive decision.
