Lajim prepared for the axe, confirms leaving Umno
Umno supreme council member Lajim Ukin said he is prepared to sacrifice his position as deputy housing and local government minister and leave the party.
However, the Beaufort MP said he is undecided on whether to join another party including the opposition as he is keeping his options open.
Speaking to a crowd of 500 people at Kampung Bukit Kallam in Labuan yesterday, he said he will continue to struggle to uphold Sabah’s rights and fight corruption and cronyism.
“I will sacrifice my monthly pay and perks as a deputy minister to uphold Sabah’s rights and fight corruption and cronyism,” he said, adding his actions may see him being sacked from Umno.
Last month, Lajim (right), in celebrating his 57th birthday, had tendered his resignation as Kerambai Kebatu Umno branch chief and had said he would not seek re-election as the Beaufort Umno division chief, of which he is an MP.
Speaking to Malaysiakini over the phone today he confirmed he was at Kampung Bukit Kallam and was prepared to leave Umno.
“Yes, it is true as it is reported in the Sabah newspapers today. However, I have not made any decision on which party to join or to... (remain independent). I am keeping my options open,” he said when contacted.
Lajim was yesterday speaking at the house of former Kuala Penyu independent candidate John Ghani who defeated Upko’s Wences Anggan, a then-deputy chief minister.
It was reported that Lajim had had a tiff with Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman for not nominating him to defend the Beaufort seat for BN in the last 2008 general election. However, a timely intervention by then-BN president and premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had seen his name included.
There were rumours that Musa wanted his son to take over Lajim’s MP seat, which prompted Lajim to say, “I don’t know where I stand. But I am not afraid of what I am going to do. I am only scared of God, my father and teacher. I’m not even scared of Satan.”
He was reported to be frustrated with BN for cutting off his MP development fund allocation since he became critical.
Lajim was also reported last month to have rubbished speculation that his supporters in the party wanted him to defect to PKR, but stressed that nothing is impossible in politics.

Lajim are you joining Pkr to help Pakatan Malaya continue to dominate and treat Sabah as 1 of 13 states or are you allowing Pkr to use you to continue to treat Sabah as 1 of 13 states or are you using Pkr to extend your life as wakil rakyat or to become the new CM because Umno and CM is dumping you? Which is which?
ReplyDeleteTo you is Sabah 1 of 13 states or 1 of 3 equal partners? What is your answer?
Good question. Lajim should take that in consideration before making a decision to join PKR.
DeleteLajim is not relevant for Sabahans. If he contests in this election, most probably he will lose.
DeleteLajim, you should not be joining any Malayan parties for the sack of your political survival...just think wisely, why in the first place you want to leave UMno? Is it not their federalism control of you..and of course BN in Sabah? Think again, we are not Malayans...we are Sabahans ... are we going to be controlled by one WM party to another same????
ReplyDeleteLajim Ukin leave BN not because of their federation control, but because he knew he will be dropped by the top party leaders during the next general elections.
Deletemost probably he couldn't get what he want from UMNO.
DeleteLajim wants to quit from UMNO because his dream of becoming the next CM will not be achieved.
DeleteAll the best to Lajim.
DeleteIm sure Lajim clear with his direction.
DeletePembalasan si Pitung..siapa suruh mengkhianat PBS dulu.
Saya baca PROCLAMATION OF MALAYSIA dan ianya memang bilang Sabah, Sarawak dan Singapura be federated with the States of Malaya.
DeleteThe Top UMNO party leaders have decided to let him go the first place, whatever Lajim Ukin does will not make much impact to the party.
Deletemgkin dah tiba masanya Lajim bersara.
DeleteLajim letak jawatan untuk mendapat simpati rakyat.
Deletetunggu dan lihat sajalah perkembangan seterusnya.
DeleteThis time for real? Shocking me! I thought he would never leave BN.
DeleteOnce a backstabber, will always be a backstabber.
DeletePrepare for trouble! I bet there must be something bad going on with Lajim.
ReplyDelete“I don’t know where I stand. But I am not afraid of what I am going to do. I am only scared of God, my father and teacher. I’m not even scared of Satan.”
ReplyDeleteI love this word..really...
Amim saudara YB Lajim,
DeleteWell,he is just trying to tell that he is not afraid of his friend.
ReplyDeletewhat will happen next?
ReplyDeleteTunggu saja langkah Lajim yang seterusnya.
DeleteApa apapun asalkan bukan BN UMNO.Apa apapun asal bukan suku sakat Bengali Bingkul Hidung Panjang.
ReplyDeleteIsada buod
Kuala Penyu
Jangan berdolah dalih. Atau minta simpati dengan rakyat Sabah.
ReplyDeleteWhatever his decision is, hopefully it will be a good one.
ReplyDeleteUMNO can't do much if really Lajim insist to leave UMNO.
ReplyDeleteApa Lajim nak buat sebenarnya?
